Vets of 2001 - How many are left?

Well i was viewing some of the players 'forum join dates'..and began to wonder.

Just how many forum members are still here from 2001?

..im guessing..maybe 20 people maximum.

So fall in all you old timers...and dont forget to bring your canes,walkers,wheelchairs, and colostomy bags. j/k :laughlong:

Lets get a head count of who's left.
And maybe share a tale or two.

I was not aiming that comment to any one of any sort. Stateing a fact, when you say you are from 2001 and your reg. date is 2004. I dought someone will think you are from 2001, I was not talking to you if I was I would have stated your name. I was talking to this community as a whole.

Yes, I thought this would come up, so to find out lets start from the start.

The deffinition of vet is.

A person who is long experienced or practiced in an activity or capacity.

As you can see that means a long period of time, that you have spent on something. Although this topic is related to 2001 vets. I see many pepole in this game who are from 2002 and desurve to be called vets. This topic although is about pepole from 2001.

So as you see from my post that there are many, many pepole who need to be called vets. Although they are not due to them not being here back then. Take Blanka09, he is a good example he sighned up just a few months back and he has done alot of research on this fourm. He knows a lot from the time he has been here and is very wise.

Take me myself as an example whaen I joined the fourm back in 2001. I made mabe what 4 or 3 post not alot. You couldn't call me a regular on this fourm. I was always playing the game though and at that time found this fourm not as a intrest. Although I did play the game talked to alot of pepole on the game and learned that it was not so bad.

Untill a few months ago I never evean wanted to come back here. Then I though mabe I could just go back and see what was up and decided to stay. So as you can see, this community states if you are a vet. If you don't act like one then why would someone call you one.

So I hope you see what I am saying in this post, also I do not mean to offend any one with it.

Also, seeing as how every thing I have not been here for I would not evean call myself a true member of this community.

etc etc bla bla that ant really vets BUT there great fighters.....so i dont care.

and out of the vets that are left there are only a few that are STILL great i mean one of the best players in the game for instance some1 like Karma ...hes been here for ages but hes not a great fighter hes a GOOD fighter but not great.
Huge difference between great and good.

I consider someone a vet who started in August 2001 to around May 2002 and who has a lot of experience in the game.
The one's that usually leave an impact are those that either dominate in the top scores or spend their lives being forum junkies.

pippy don't worry about it. Everyone knows your a vet whether they'd like to admit it or not...even though you joined the game and forum in 2002.

Trying to start poop gets you no place far here, Why can it get you no place far around here? There is no combo system in the game not to mention throws or air combos. Lag is way to high when you play the game, all you need to win at it is a fast computer.

Who cares if 2001 vets are good at the game? I know I'm not very great. The point of being a vet isn't that you're a good fighter. It's that you've been with the site and game for almost the whole of its existence. That's why I'm proud of being a vet.

I started playing in 2001 but i never made an account till i got my new pc in 2002. When the game was a demo and with my super super slow pc in 2001 it took like a whole 20 seconds to get a hadoken to move to the other end of the screen. I still remember when i was a #### and i used to get beaten like hell by evryone. When i played with my new pc tho i used to win quite more but i was cheap, very cheap with cyc. I didn't mean to offend any one by that comment, if I did, I am very sorry. I did not mean for it to come out that way, what I was trying to say is. Once pepole become vet's it is not due to the titels they hold or there fighting skills. It is there experiance, yes yes, I know what you are going to say. "You have been absent for over two years what gives you the right to say that you ar a vet??" Well, as you have seen in my other post. I, truthfuly am not a reguler member and hardly post here. I only play the game for fun I don't play to sharpen my fighting skills. If I wanted to do that I would play fba or something with hardly any lag.

Here it is plain and simple: a vet is anyone who was here when the game was first released. ex:TakanX, redmoon, token, selvin, Nferno666,Me, subzero,leftyfb, lordcyris,airlock, Zing79(###),ewalk,etc... so if you registered from august 2001 till like december you would be considered a vet.

No, it has every thing to do with how you act how can you possibly say that you can beat someone and truely mean it. Not trying to say you arnt a good fighter at sfo but, think about it with no combos how can you truely say it is how you play the game. If someone beats you on sfo 99% of the time it was due to lag.

So you can't judge someone by there fighting skills, due to lag also there are no combos but 1 or 2 that you can pull off in the game. Then when I fight someone on fba or a emulater and I losse, I can truely say that they beat me fair and square. That is because, there is hardly any lag, every char. is availeble to use and the biggest part there are throws and combos.

So the only way to judge some one is by there post,

there is no set time limit for veterans ! all that is needed for you to be one, is of you to have been there living it when the thing hapenned !

Can't remember when I first posted, but the first time I played was Aug-Sept 2001. I was on 56k then and I only played a couple time then lost the link (plus I thought it was crap). Around Nov-Dec I got broadband and started playing more seriously.

it is not called XvS its called SFO.. streetfighteronline... and the newest thing about this game is Ken (new character)... also ifur vip or get rage factor points u can use Dark Ken.. there is also now sentinel prime (which u can only use ifur vip or have rage factor points) sentinel has a new move called stasis field... and their is also another new character called shadow lady *dark chunli* she has a new move called hyper spinning bird kick *its almost like the ryus round house but more effective* (u can use shadow lady if youare vip or if yougot rage factor points)

Well, anything could of happened, its not like I didn't beat Nferno, Professor, Hulk, Koopsta etc before. I beat every player considered elite back then, expect for Tarken. Tarken had that red sentinel that was the poop back then, I was amazed every time I saw it fly across whole the screen. I only fought Tarken 3 times, two of those times I was experimenting with chun-li (Handicap, but it was fun =/), and the other was after the ToC2. They made up this rule where I had to beat Tarken to recieve my blue Ryu that was supposed to be the reward for winning. When I finally fought him, I was pissed and exhaunted and played half ass'd, because I just had beaten Zing 10 times in a row to prove I deserved the title, and then I had to fight Tarken to get my reward, only because some people got mad that I won, including xmvsst (I think he switched to Feat Tetsuo or something and became the best ever? but thats another story, If you know whats this is about please tell me.). Anyway, I thought that was funny because before the tournament we(me and xmvsst) were training together, and we had some great close fights. He won 3 and I won 2, but he didn't seem to complain then. I decided I was gonna stop playing after all of that, I didn't feel I needed to deal with all that over some poopty game.

Tarken and I have different recollection of the events, he says I trashed talk before the fight, but thats not how I remember it. I didn't have the energy to do all that, I was too dissapionted in the xmvst community and was on my way to quiting. I told him good luck before the fight and good game after. I tried to be as friendly as possible, because I did respect him back then. but I feel he was on some superiority poop when I read his story of ToC2. but he does tell a good story, I have to admit. =/

Even after all that, I didn't actually completely quit until 2v2 came out. I wanted to give it a second chance because I had some rememberable moments fighting the best, (You know when the fight is so good that your hands are shaking afterwards and you know that it was intense). I lost that feeling after 2v2 came out. And it didn't help when I would go to a server and try to get a quick 1v1(RyuvsRyu) on, and no one would accept for a half an hour. I swear I would still probably be playing if it were just chun-li ryu and wolve. The game became too much about who is the cheapest than who had the most skill, in my opinion.

How about i give u a lil 2001 history?

The first ever tourney was Necro's tournament which only had like 9 people joined which really manontherun, you confuse me.. you got to refresh my brain right now.. i thought Lordcyris was the one with the Blue Ryu.. not tarkan... i think tarkan had another color ryu... but i do remember that red sentinel that used to run around the screen.. that was dangerous...then ewalk came out with his Ryu drunken Brawl i was gonna join but i didnt even learn the hadoken yet...

that toc wasnt that big... i like toc 1 better... it had a nice tournament site.. i can still picture it... and the tournament was always set up nicely... zing79 would send emails for your next matchup.. zing79 was a hardworker in toc 1.... my fights were really good.. if anything i was one of the quickest learners in this game...when i first joined in sept. 2001 DXZero was ranked one.... i only knew how to do basic punches and kiks... i hadnt learned any supers... my first ever fight was against baller... he beat the hell out of me.. i saw all those supers flying back and forth at me i was like *damn..without learning how to do a super i am never gonna win a match* so i kept asking over and over if someone would please teach me the controls to do a super.. and lil biotches like ramziel would spam to me over and over... calling me ####ie.. he used to beat me all the time (of course i didnt learn the hadoken) then finally a player called 2good4u told me the controls.. the next day i completely forgot what he told me to do... i felt like an idiot... then finally tarkanx just told me the controls.. tarkanx used to be a rank hunter back in the day LOL... i finally learned it and my RECORD was horrible.. i had only 10 wins and like 50+losses... i started training by beating up BARNEY in practice mode... then when i went up to start fighting i started beating people one by one... everyday i got better and better... and people would ask me *whats ur real nick* they thought i just came out of nowhere.. i ended up in pretty decent rank around 18-23's --- thats good enough for a new user like myself especially with the amount of talent there was back then... also THE HADOKEN USED TO CANCEL THE SHINKUU.. (which means if youthrough a hadoken before they throw the shinku, the hadoken will keep going through the shinkuu *with the shinkuu still hitting u* untill it hit the other person and cancel the shinkuu) there was also lots of cheapass people that would use the OLD cheap punch to death trick.. which is u can press down and hold and just keep pressing the punch button and u can kill the person in like 15-20 secs... tmyapp fixed that.. now when u low punch the person low punching keeps backing up...some good fighter i cant get enough of is pamalio, nosoul4evr, lordcyris, leftyfb, tarkanx, token, and tidus2k2

as LancerPX, i joined one of those clans before senshukentaikai called xXsomebodyXx army... i had some kool members like umj, jr, etc..

Tarkan had a red colored Ryu and Red Sentinel. My reward for ToC2 was supposed to be Blue Ryu and I forgot what the helper was. It wouldn't be the same blue as Lodrcyris I would think, but even so, around that time Lordcyris barely played. I think he disappeared or was very busy.

I saw a thread about ToC3 some time back. I remember someone saying Fear Tetsuo became the best and I saw Tarkan agree and congradulate him. Can someone link it to me, if you know what I'm talking about.

i think now its harder to make big tournaments like zing79 used to.. alot of people back in the day were so excited to hear that a big tournament is going on.. so they would join... i remember lordcyris was gonna make a tag tournament but it never happened... lordcyris was not as prepared for a tournament as he was suppose to.. now adays people go to tourneys and just forget that they are in a tourney.. anyways most people like to chat for some reason.. its pretty weird... its like the most they enjoy sfo/xvssf is to chat.. not to play the game..
