View Full Version : Dashing - To enable or not to enable?

I've always left Dashing on it's default setting (enabled).
But until recently while I was doing my regular "No Background, No Music, lower the Sound to 40.." before I got into a server, I considered turning off Dashing. How many times have we all accidentally dashed directly into wolver

i disable it everytime !
i tryed and believe me i really tryed !
but with the key detection we have now, dashing comes pretty much randomly and sometimes you try a move but its a step forward that happens !
so i just disable it and do without it !

I am trying out no dashing... and I feel such a relief. No more dashing when I am trying to shoot a web ball!
I think I am going to stick with this.
Blanka09, do the right thing and turn it off! Your dashing will get you killed when you least want to dash!

Eh, when LordCyris trained me he told me to turn it off so i did that...and yeah I was good, but I like dashing. I'm more of an up close and personal fighter so i kind of need dashing. And if you ever find yourself about to get stuck in a super press down back and forward. Down first, back and forward second. Then hold down. It's to block. Always works for me. And ifur in the air press down then back and foward. Hope that helps. and you can over jump over supers from wolvie and ken...doesn't even have to be a super jump.

It's not like I'm a ####. I have been playing this game for alittle while. It's the lag that can get you to dash.
You people act as if it never accidentally happened to you to make my argument futile. When lag occurs your moves are set back a second but in the meantime you were doing other operations on your keyboard and end up shooting a Web Sting instead of a Maximum Spider when your moves actually register.
Hope I didn't confuse anyone.

That's fallacy man.. What the heck do you mean by doing the right thing and turning dashing off.. That's fallacy!
If dashing doesn't help your style of gameplay.. then that's you.. It doesn't mean it'll get other characters killed. Everyone plays differently.. and the problems you have when you turn dashin on.. well frankly, I do not have them.. so I see no reason why I should turn dashing off on my own game.

How is that fallacy if I am basing my statement decisively off the information I've given from the game? This is an argument and I'm trying to guide you towars the light.
Without dashing enabled you get less lag and less accidents.
blanka09
04-25-2004, 06:24 PM
lol.. light.. *cough* ..
ahem.. it's fallacy because you've based ur arguement upon ur own experiences in the game, the kinda lag you recieve and the kinda mistakes/accidents you make. I can count the number of times I've made a mistake while dashing or trying to pull off some master combo without the use of a fireball... but I can't count the number of games I've played. So you see.. it's not that I'm the best player.. or I'm omnipotent.. it's just that I play better with dashing enabled. Take for instance someone's about to super jump to the other side and perform a shinkuu hadouken or some other horizontal super move. The fastest way to get to the other side would be to dash towards that opponent and kick him out of the super.
You make mistakes and get lag while your dashing is enabled.. I don't and that's why I termed ur arguement as being fallacy.. Not that they aren't brillaint or "light bringing" as you said.. it's just that they don't work for everyone... and when laying out strategies like this, you've gotta take everyone into consideration.

well, msi, if i was to be a #### because i oftenly dash while trying to do supers and or normal moves and dash instead... then answer me the why i beat you easily if i want to ?
seriously... dashing for me i like a nightmare !
normal moves works... but every damn time i try a super, my character usually goes into a dashing move instead thus i rush right at my opponent who is waiting for me to do that and fall right in his trap which i usually did !
once i disabled dashing, that problem completely stopped and now i can easily wipe anyone clean without even a need to dash.
in any case, why would dashing be good with sent ?
a jump kick is usually way better then dashing anyway !

Blanka... my blind child... I have been playing with dashing up until this point and my computer is good. I know what dashing is and how it works but if it comes out by accident one time... thats one time too many for me, youngster.

Dashing... hmm... well it i dont really dash during games but i dont turn it off either i dont its useful nor an annoyance but sometimes can be if you have it on and u dash by mistakes but on my case most the time i dash it usally saves me so i say enable it

Um... ok.. now no need to result to belittling comments.. For what I've said is true.
You just said yourself that the accidents happen to you.. right? correct me if this youngster can't read well..
Well, I do not make the mistakes you make.. and I do not play with Sentinel. For a character like that, dashing would not be needed.. since his attacks aren't based on lunging and performing basic combinations... just the projectiles and the rocket punch baby.. lol
Anyway, if it comes out accidentally for you.. that doesn't mean it'll come out accidentally for me... so that's why I called ur arguement based on ur own experiences fallacy in the first place.
I'm not saying there's no other soul who doesn't like dashing.. but all I'm saying is that because you don't like it.. doesn't mean every other person shouldn't use it!
P.S. Do you really think I'm blind.. no really.. *cough*

1. Get that cough looked at, Blanka. Maybe too many years in the Brazilian rain forest got your sinuses messed up.
2. You can't honestly say that you have never dashed by accident when there is lag.
3. I was not belittling you, kiddo, so let's not jump to conclusions. If you were offended by it, I'm sorry Blanka09, I didn't know you were so senstive. :D
4. At first I didn't put on dash because I didn't want it coming out accidentally when the lag occured. But now that SSJKarma brought up how it reduces lag a bit, I am definitly leaving it off to up my advantage.
5. I don't use Sentinel, so I used to dash whenever I saw an opening as sp

Calling me out!? Let's do it!
Here is the dashing do to lag example...
You press a combination on your keyboard... a fireball combination for instance. Lag intervenes midway... so your Punch doesn't register then you press forward for whatever reason and next thing you know, your sp

Hmm.. but it shouldn't affect ur own gameplay..and the moves ur character makes. I don't really know.. maybe it's because I haven't really explored both sides of the equation.. I haven't really needed to turn dashing off in any game I play.. so there ya have it.
But I guess I'll swallow ur analysis.. since you said it's very uncommon
And yes.. I do challenge ya.. if you're up for it

blanka, rasta... would you please stop insulting each other !
as for lag, well lag has nothing to do with it, but what has, is you being too fast on your keys !
the slower your computer is the slower you'll have to be !
BLANKA: a question for you... in tag matches... are you able to pull out an RD ?
cause i can't... the game usually register the LK and LP together thus making me lose half a super bar because my partner comes out instead !
that is not due to lag, but reguardless of how you say it, it works for you, fine... but i agree with rasta here... don't tell me it never hapenned to you, cause i sure it hapenned to you a lot of time, cause if it does that on my computer i have right now and it did that back then on my older computer, and it does whatever place i played in. then it surely hapenned to everyone else as well !
now to answer his question...
i play it disabled cause it screw my gameplay because of that fliping game not registering the right moves !
you play with it enabled, fine, that's the answer he wanted, if not then rasta shut this thread !
now i don't want you people arguing over this again !

SSJKarma, an argument is healthy for the topic and the competition (it also makes good build up when I actually fight Blanka09). And besides, Karma, the drama was gone before you posted so it's alittle late to end it... unless your just trying to look good infront of your peers as the peacemaker!! :D
Anyone else have two cents in their pocket to contribute to this? Let's see some other big names have a word in the dashing debate.

Oh my God.. SSJKarma.. we weren't fighting at all.. That's the way we argue.. unless incoherrent blabbing arguements is now disallowed in this forum..
Anyway, we've found out the best way to settle this.. a fight! Yes.. 9.00pm EST.. If you wish to witness it.. SFO Back up Server.
And SSJKarma.. well, atimes I am able to pull it off in a tag match..however, if my opponent is on the stage, he/she usually does super moves more often and not.. and it never works (since I rarely use shin akuma)
So it goes both ways.. if you ask me  however, RD isn't like dashing.. and the combinations are totally different. I am able to dash towards my opponent no matter what kinda battle I'm in

Instead of saying No Dashing, I said Dashing. Mistake.
BTW, who needs dashing when you play with a character like Evil Ryu or Akuma!?!!? You can just use your Ashura Warp to compensate for the disabled dashing!! So here you can dash and have less lag!
