Since alot of people are saying they wish they could play so and so, in such a game, cause they would kick their asses, I have this question to ask...
what game *really* requires skill and mastery to play?
my honest opinion is that is was street fighter 2 turbo, and heres why...
NO...
air blocks
super jumps
super moves
helpers
...and im sure theres more i havent mentioned...
the point is, that game was tough. You couldn't rely on super moves to save your hide...
the game was simple compared to all the stuff thats avaiblable for use now, but man, did it require skill!
now you can just power up your super bar, use it and smoke someone with one move!
example: in marvel vs. capcom 2, in order to take off 1/4 of the guys health, all you needed to do was d,df,f + 2 punches with ryu. Its a basic motion that any capcom player would know how to do.
now compare that with sf2turbo...you could take off a 1/4 of a guys health in one swoop, BUT you need expert timing to combo that much health away...the best example was guiles 14 hitter...sure it took off 70% of the guys health, but you had to be perfect at that game to pull it off..
im sure that anyone who played that far back into the street fighter series would agree...
shit, most of us who played that and were good, knew the timing of all of our favorite characters animations...WE NEEDED TO...cause to get the timing down for the combos, you had to know it.
but hey, thats just my opinion  what do you guys think, and why?
