View Full Version : 3rd strike - it's a good game but......

They could've done better with the game play, graphics are great, it's hard to get your moves off(especially with the dreamcast controller). They cheapened the game by making a few characters have the same stage, but at different times(Ken, and Alex.... Sean, and Oro.... Necro, and Twelve). The game CPU is either retarded or cheap because I was using Urien, and beat Alex with two perfects, i finished him off with a super each time, but I got a C+!!!!
And Gill, you can't get through his resurection until he heals 3/4 all the way! Talk about cheap, though I unlocked Gill(and he's great, but I have to learn more from him)'
The fighters Ryu, Ken, and Akuma still maintain their glory status, Sean is okay, but lose the two handed shoryuken(Dragon Smash).
My favs in 3rd strike in order:
Ryu
Akuma
Ken
----------------(these 3 are obvious)
Dudley(COMBOS!!!!)
Alex(attitude, and power combined with speed)
Urien(A clone of Gill, but great attacks)
Elena(she's really good, with the combos and animation)
Remy(Guile and Charlie ruled, but this guy isn't as good)
Oro(agile, just like the Ansatsuken warriors)
Sean(he could've been better, but hes still good)
Chunli(I only liked her in SF2, shes boring to use now)
Necro(Dhalsim is a bit better, but he's still good)
Makato(power, and combos in one)
Yang(combos....)
Yun(people like Yun a lot, but I think Yang is better)
Ibuki(she sucks, but shes fast)
Q(SLOW AND SUCKY!!!!! but nice supers)
Twelve(.....................)

Yeah I forgot Hugo, I'd put him over Q, and under Yun. I'd give the game a 7.5, it could've been better if it had world tour mode like in alpha 3. This game is a game for advanced players, and not like the air blocks from alpha 3 which is pretty cheap, you have to learn how to parry things, and not block them..... I'd give myself a B grade for parrying, though I don't do it much against computer.

Yeah, the games ok, Chun-Li kicks boot-ay!
Hugo, is, great!
I live X-Copy, thats how I played as Gill for the first time!
Q is pretty bad, he looks and seems cool, but I don't know if he just sucks or is to hard to play?

I'd give myself an A++ in parrying. Q is hard to use though. He is slow, but powerful.
A++ in parrying?? I will never play you in that game then! I once had some nutter parry Ken's whatchama-call-it-look-at-me-I-am-a-flying-firey-thing all the way! I wasn't happy.
Yup, its my fav sf game... and that's a high accolade! Personally, I LOVE Dudely!! I mean, yeah, Akuma is the man and all... but the Dudster is v. Groovey! A comboer's dream come true! Its easy to rack up 20, or even 30+ hits with the Dudster and the rolling uppercut super!
Yes, I've had Akuma' but kicked with Ken by all those Sf pros out there... but the Dudster... man, he eats Shoto for brekkie! 1 2 3 and they're all over the place!
Whew! Well, that's me all excited and raving now... i wonder if the uni game-shops open... its only midnght, should still be open... ...
But yeah, Selvin, if you think you're an A++... ####, well done! That's the hardest (and most rewarded) part of the game!
Until next time...

I give myself a C with parrying... I usually parry on accident, but I can parry fireballs and other projectiles easily.

Well I faced some dumbass who used Chun Li's Lighting Kick super, only, because it is impossible to counter, so instead I parried some odd 15 hits and I did Yang Punching Super.

I can't even parry more than a one hit combo, the most I've parried was 2, and yeah I could parry projectiles, punches, and kicks easily.
By the way whats the highest combo you've done?
I've done a 24 hit combo with Urien.
the procedure is.....
LP, LP, LP, aegis reflector, LP, LP, LP, LP, LP, aegis reflector, LP, LP, LP, LP, LP, down(toawrds them), HP, down(charge), up, LP.
You could do more than 24 hits with this though.....

Urien - Not Gills' Clone, but his brother!
and
Remy - Believed to be Guiles' son!
(For the people that didn't know )

When peopl say clone, that means they basically have the same moves. like Ryu and Ken, people say Ken is a clone of Ryu, they don't mean it literally.
And Remy isn't Guiles son.....(don't know how many times someone has said that... hehe....)

Well, I honeslty don't know much about him, but this is what I've read once:
Remy -
Remy's history is somewhat of a mystery. Remy's fighting style immediately calls into question his parentage. Who could've taught him skills that essentially mirror Guile's and Charlie's fighting style? It seems safe to assume that one of them is Remy's father. It has been speculated that Blade Dame (Street Fighter: EX) hails from france and thus could be Remy's mother. The EX series has never been considered an "official" part of any fighter's history, but both Remy and Blair are from France so this suppostion seems as likely as any other...
Other evidence to support the theory that Guile is Remy's father is found in Remy's conversation with Alex before their fight. Remy mentions that his father considered himself a warrior and betrayed his family by deserting them. SF2 fans will recall Guile did indeed desert his family, if only for a short time, to pursue Mike Bison (Vega in Asia) and avenge Charlie's death.
That's what I read. And I went with it, but it COULD be wrong!

I dun care...I think Remy is Guiles son! or something close...
And in Marvel Vs. Capcom, I downloaded a clip of Mega Man doing a 96 hit combo without ever doing a super, it's pretty cool...

96 hit?! That must use his charged-up FP (charged up for what, an hour??).

I could only get a 24 hit combo with megaman(without supers), and the most Ive seen was a 16 hit combo, charging it for 5 mins.

Sorry I meant 89 =\
And Yeah, he started with that, then followed it up with a series of hits, while charing up another, did the soccer ball, and a leaf shield, popped him up into the air, and continued the combo up there...if I see you on AIM I can send you the clip, it's really cool to watch.
