Multiple 1st place champions??

Today at approx. 08:00 (ET) I challenged some new name, and when the game began it stated that he was "1st place champion"! Even though I hadn't ever seen him even in the top 100. Too bad I can't remember the name anymore. He was pretty good though, so it's weird that he isn't listed. So.. what the #### is going on? Can ppl join in with different nicknames and maintain their rank? Or what..

Hey, i just now fought someone named Joe and it said that he is the 1st place champion.. strange..

this happened to me weeks ago i fought 1st and 3rd placed champions even tho the wern't

I don't know if it's because they used to be champs and then quit playing or what, but I just had the same thing happen. (I played (name removed) and it said he was a 1st place champion)

well, this is how it works...

the game grabs u'r stats when you login... so, if u were in top 3, and then somehow u drop (or make it to the 1st) the game wont know this until you re-login...

if u'r behind a proxy, this complicates things... u might have to clear u'r cache to get the new stats...

and.. on top of that, the server (sometimes) locks someone's score, so, it may say that they are in top 3 (but only because they were there weeks ago)

in any case... i try to clear these problems once a week or so... but, for now, its the best system we have... :(

TMyApp: Your answer is understood. However, I don't think that it explains this whole phenomenon. The people that I have played that have had this title (other than TarkanX, LordCyris, etc in the top 20 now) can't have ever been in the top 3 unless they were the only 3 on! In other words, they really stunk and would have lost to a majority of people. How could they get that title? My only answer to this is that maybe they were really good at one point and just came back. But if you clean that up every week, that complicates my answer. Thoughts?

Yeah it's a good challange, I have that game, the characters portraits are diffrent depending on which groove you select!
