Look newbs,,(and a few regulars here)
Wolverine is not cheap...
ya get all up in Ryu's face,,beat him from one side of the screen to the next...he never gets a fire ball off and you're called "Cheap"...i suppose Ryu isnt cheap huh...blastin' fireball after fireball,,then a few Energy blasts...from the other side of the ring! Tell me how that isnt cheap...come on ya'll!!!
both characters are cheap...ya just gotta know how to aviod the cheaps...
I challange any religious Ryu player to try playing Wolverine for a week...you'll get to see just how cheap Ryu is...do you think it's easy chasing your happy bouncing fireball slingin' Ryu ass all over the ring?NO...IT IS NOT! it reqiures skil and anticipation of lag..
both characters play off of 2 opposing fields of game play....Ryu's a run away shoot ya in the back type of fighter..(with lag this makes him the superior character).wolverine is a get in your face slash ya silly fighter...both characters are equaly cheap from what ive seen.
Man i cant wait for Chun-Li....next thing ya know Chun-Li is gonna be the "cheap" fighter.....geez!
Ya'll just need to learn some more moves, thats all.

WAIT JUST AN F'N MINUTE!!! No one is cheap. There is always a way of beating someones startegy. Unfortunately with the lack of moves like the Shin Shoryuken, Weapon X and Fatal Claw, you are forced to repeat moves to be sucessful in the game (There are exceptions). Suppose Wolverine is cornoring, you would give him the Shin Shoryuken. You are getting Hadoukened to death, jump right in front of the person and give them the Fatal Claw. Getting your ass Hurricane Kick to the floor, give him the Weapon X. It is not that it is cheap, but a lack of moves is the reason.
totally agreed, just because wolverine does not have many moves does not mean that he is cheap. whether you like playing with him or not is something else.

Characters themselves are not cheap, the players who use them in cheap ways are.

i cant say that it's because of a lack of power/unique moves...there are plenty of moves at the moment...its just a matter of knowing what to use when and how to avoid your opponents attempts of kicking your ass (any one here ever try blocking once in a while?)

My friend lag says blocking doesn't help all the time.
my friend tells me that all the time too.
Some Wolverine users (both newB's and some regulars) are cheap. Using that sliding claw attack to hit you before the game says fight and hitting you so rapidly you can't block or hit them no matter which character you are. If they keep it up the whole match it's impossible to win (as long as they get you the first time you're history). This can be overcome on normal mode but not on turbo (and if anyone has found a way not relying on helpers I would like to know it). At least you can defend from ryu's attacks (most of the time).

Abstract: Wolverine does not suck and is not cheap, both in the arcade and in this online game. It is the infamous one-steppers and corner gamers that make people think that a character is cheap or sucks.
Elaboration: No, Wolverine is not cheap. It is possible to fiercely attack, then back up and let the opponent recover (wow, logical thinking). Any character that feels that fighting good, honest, non-cheapo fights would do that, rather than beat the opponent senseless in the corner. That last part applies to all characters for all fighting games.
Corner games are cheap, but one-steppers are the epitome of cheap. Persistent one-steppers (those who primarily use just one attack (Ryu Hadouken-aholics and Wolverine Berserker Barrage-ites, just to name two types of one-steppers)) should be sternly warned. It is the group of cheap users that makes a bad name for the characters that they are cheap with.
I never said wolverine is cheap, just some people who use him are cheap. No character can be cheap on their own, it's the player that decides whether they are playing cheap or not.
example: I played one guy (can't remember who he was though) who did nothing but use wolverine's slide move for about 90% of the game. The only reason I was able to avoid this is because he didn't chose his character fast enough and we had to play on normal mode. Whenever a person does wolverine's sliding move from start to finish it is unblockable on turbo mode until they stop (at least to me because I don't know how to block before the game says "fight").

Can't help ya, there... just be thankful you can even fight humans! Dan Hibiki's computer is retarded and doesn't like human opponents 'cause it isn't directly connected to the internet. I'm gonna go cry in the corner *sniff*
Both characters are good. There is no cheap or not cheap in a game(unless you are cheating). It is called strategy. If you can't get out of being cornered, then you should have acted faster. If you can't stop being fireballed or superfireballed you should have acted faster. Wolverine iss espicially leathal in close combat and Ryu is dangerous in long range combat.
It is how you paly the game.
