ok, how long did it take ppl to reach the pinnacle of their skill...or is there even a pinnacle. for example. some of you may know me as riseaboveone. i have been playing now for about 2 months....my highest rank has been 7. now i have logged a TON of hours playing this game. ok so like about 2 weeks ago i thought i have reached the top of my abilities. i only use 1 character AKUMA. and i am pretty confident i use EVERYTHING he has. so this is what im asking...all you veterans whom i have been battling with over the past few weeks. has there been a point where you realized."i cant get any better than this...THIS is the best of my ability and what this particular character can do." is there a point where you skill level just plateaus? or do u find yourself constantly getting better?

Yes.. until you just start playing better (for whatever reason). I fought somewhere around a thousand games from Dec. 2001 - Feb. 2002, and played about the "same" all the month of February. But after taking a break, I came back in April 2002 and was at my pinacle. However, that was only with Ryu. In April, I started experimenting with other characters, and it improved my overall game (and dropped some of my previous bad habbits with Ryu).

What you're talking about sounds a bit like you're getting too redundant with your strategies (ie: using just Akuma). Maybe taking a break off the game and/or experimenting with other characters will improve your game.

well being th ebest around here is reffering to the fact that kick everyone's butt with the same character over and over !

but to me being the best is impossible, there will always be someone stronger then you !
but if you really anna be in your pinnacle as you say...
try and be great with all characters. that way if someone say's you're only good with one, then switch and proove them wrong !

i rememebr one guy, who told me i was good only because it was sentinel, if i would choose someone else he could easily defeat me ! thing is i answered that i knew that since i wasn't the best with others and he defeated me... but i challenged him again and still defeated him with another character other then my sentinel. then i said, you are no better then i do if you don't take AKUMA... he said yeah i can beat you as long as you don't take sentinel. so he chosed another one and i still defeated him, then he said i cheated and he backed out of the fights and never challenged me after !

see, being great with all characters helps a lot. its more fun that way anyway !
but for my part i'm stucck with sentinel, i like his fighting style owning the fight with his massive attacks and ranges. other fighters have their own attributes but i can't seem to be able to make them play their strongest points ! but to answer your question...

no i don't think their is any "You cannot be better then that" because what made tyhe human race go forward in life always was chakllenge, and since there is always someone stronger then you then you always have something to learn from them. so i really think there is no best existing !

Well ever since I've almost thought i couldn't get any beter at this game. Too my skills never came to use with cos of lag.

Yep.....i don't think relying on 1 char is a good strategy........thats why i'm good with all of them except maybe for chun li and akuma[CODE]:biggrin:

Rank doesn't determine how good you are, and it's hard to determine who is the best, because there is no set tournament (instead, there are just run-a-mock tournaments, no offense). And even if there were set tournaments, there are still players that are very high in terms of overall skill (yes, there is a such thing as skill in this game) that don't/won't compete in these tournaments. You'd have to have one person challenge everyone who has ever played the game at their best, which is very hard to do, especially since players who might have been great are pretty much scrubs now (like myself).

If only there was an "official" tournament.... hmm....

I mean on the grounds of an offical tournament.

Why would a member of your well known rank dream of an offical tournament.Have you not noticed or have you forgotten your a member of NWO.

Your opinion now has more influence on the Adminstrators of this site...an community.


I believe at this time and Age with so many users active an Offical TOC(Tournament Of Champions) which would be the postponed 4th of it's series should come to realizing it's truth.

Why don't you TarkanX host TOC4......

I mean really if you hosted a Tournament with your popular legendary past among the Vetereans....or older players it should be a major turn out.


And if my memory serves correct 100 or 100+ members joining a tournament will call for the making of a new helper.

I'm sure you of all members could Assemble such an event.

I'll have to look into it, but I really don't have much time to do it, I'll need a lot of help if I am going to make a tournament.

SBYRD5: last time TarkanX made a tourney, it had lots lots of people, but it got shot down by the lack of people showing up !

fact is...
back in the days of TOC 1, 2 and 3 there was commitment to this game, peole joined tourneys and actually showed up to fight because they were glad to be there fighting ! but as you could see in TOC 3, the fighting spirit of people got back down to the point of this game being a simple not as good as it used to be game !

this means that up to now... no 100+ users in tourney ever worked ! and i am sure that unless a real TOURNAMENT, i mean an OFFICIAL one hosted by TMyApp which never will host any tourney. wouldn't even make it possible !

fact is... people join, just to show that they are part of it, they join, but don't show up for reasons as simple as, i forgot about it ! which prooves they weren't taking this seriously ! which means every single person on here has the same problem. rare are those who actually go on with the tourney !

want prooves... look at the WTs, same people every damn week !
if their should be a tourney with different people every now and then, it should be it, but no the same people all the time. so this prooves that an official tourney would fail just like all other 100+ tourney ever created !

TOC and TOC 2 we're the only exception, but forget it, these days will never come back to us.

i have tryed organizing one big tourney myself... but it never came out because i got shot down by mods even before i released it !

so don't count on me to organize what you people don't want to have !

yup what u said was tru ssj, but still there are still ppl out there who would like to participate in toc4, i dont know the set up of the tournament but isnt it enuf jus to be on at least once a week???, and u can have a system wherby u can check the rank system and from that u can check the activity of the ppl on the sfo site, for a start any veterans that r applying should be allowed in bcz i doubt they will aply to a tourny they wont want to fight in, i mean look at my clan i know exactly how much ppl are active (around 10) and they will definately join, and thats jus to begin. i dont think the failure of the previous tournament should be a judgement of whether u make another one bcz it isnt really fair on the ppl who havent partcipated on toc4, and even if it is a failure what have u got to lose????

well...
there you are wrong RYUSREVENGE !
i know a lot of tournament where VETERAN didn't show up for many reasons !

some had jobs which made them forget about the tourney they were in, some couldn't be there and forget to tell that they were out of it. some tryed to come in and couldn,t joi the servers for some reason. many other reason were showed during many tourneys !

that and the fact that nobody's on the same TIMEZONE and rarely have i seen a tourney taking care of that, so i basically always pass near the time where i get disqualified for not being there when my timezone tells me that i am correct and even more sooner then what the tourney was suppose to start !

see lots of problem and by what i see, all the people who made tournaments up to now, never have thought of everything. and i know i will have that same problem if i start one because it is normal for human being to forget things.

in any case... i doubt any tourney to actually be coming great like that !
