Viper2040_is about to kill someone. More accurately, some PEOPLE.


Being a moderator or admin is cool. No doubt about it. Asking to be a mod, thats just annoying and insulting.
All of us worked hard to get where we are. How did we get here? Theres a different story for each of us. And if you ask, Im sure that any of us would be glad to explain it. But asking us to be a moderator? Not cool.

I perfectly understand the drive and desire to attain one of the highest positions in the community. When I first joined back in october of 2001, I knew that I wanted to be a mod. And I tried for it. I bugged a lot of mods (i dont recommend it), and came up with many ideas. I helped keep the peace, and I tried my hardest to behave. However, never once did I ask to be a mod.
Being a moderator at such a huge community isnt all that easy. All of your actions are watched. Every mistake is noticed. If you kick a member, you get flamed. And always, the constant IM messages asking for favors.

We do our best to help the community, and we have all been here for ages. Most of you guys asking to be a mod havent been here for even a year. Saying that you would make a good mod is NOT a way to get on our good side. I know that I personally find that a little on the insulting side. How would any of you all know how good a mod you would make?

The fact is, becoming a mod requires you to repeatedly demonstrate that you are reliable, trustworthy, and have a strong loyalty to the community. You need to show that you care, and you need to show that you will not go crazy with any mod powers. When you ask to be a mod, you are only showing that you care more about power than about the community.

I dont want to discourage anyone from trying their hardest to become a mod, but I want to make sure that people get the message: DO NOT ASK TO BE A MOD.

I am seriously thinking about kicking people from chat when they ask to be a mod...

I Just Got Finnished Reading All Your Rants And I Must Say Everything You Say Is True, I Completley Sunk Into This Topic And Read It Word For Word, And I Agree With Everything.

So Many ####s These Days Abuse Being A VIP, Either By Abusing Raging Demon, Or Cursing Me Out In The Chat(Not Saying Any Names) And I For One Am Also Sick Of That.

As For The Asking To Be A Mod, Ive Never Asked For Anything, Never Have And Never will, Though I May Wish It, But Never Ask, So You Dont Have To Worry About That From Me.

Yeah I know what you mean. Its very annoying when people beg to become a vip, mod or an admin. What I really hate is people who claim they're mods/admins.

But above all, what I realy really hate is when people call me alamgirl.

if you really wanna be a mod, just follow in blanka09's footsteps, he got there by helping peole out and not flaming people, and never stepping beyond the line, anyone can be a mod (unless you carry a grudge with one of the admins or mods, then your screwed) look at dark paladin x, i used to see him as a douchebag who spammed every topic, and just plain pissed me off with n00bieness, but recentely he has surprised the poop out of my with maturity and nonn00bieness, i can see him going places...

man dont know why they ask in the first place. i would become a mod but only if im offered. even if am offered it i dont know if id accept. i knew since the beggining of sfo that id have to get on constantly day by day to keep patrol but now i dont have that much free time with my summer job, then school, then my brother gets on for hours. plus id have to do alot more than to get on daily

If you never once asked them to be a mod then how would they have known that you wanted it. During the bugging you must have hinted or said you wanted to be a mod for them to have made you one... AND if YOU "bugged" them and "tried for it", than why can't others have the same chances you got? That seems a bit selfish to me. :eh:

Anyway, getting asked to be a mod is a lot like getting asked to get sponsored (I presume) Just say "No, conversation over". Not a big deal. :sarcasm:

ok, actually you never ask to be a mod... tmyapp came to me directly asking me if the job was something i wanted to do, never have i asked to be one !

about all th emods/admins never asked to be mods !

asking is just making sure you won't be !
same goes for vip and sponsored vips !

took me 3 years to become one... why didn't he made me one back then... well because he didn't like me. for my attitude wasn't the way he wanted his mods to be, but he liked the attitude i had after 3 years for he saw that i had changed over the years. so he asked me for it !

we the mods choose who will be the next one... but for all i know... all the names we mentionned were or not known by hinm. or not his liking the person ! in most cases he doesn't know the person and thus that person won't be mod for a while !

he doesn't want to get disturbed, he doesn't want to give his msn, he doesn't give away his contacts or emails for he doesn't want to get disturb by all of you guys... but there is one thing he wants to see here... and that is active members who care for the game enough for them to do something pretty darn big ! Nosoul has probably the most usefull website ever created up to now... that is why he was gifted and appreciated by tmyapp... not to mention he was an active member since the beginning and had never stopped looking into the community. same goes for me, i always argue about tmyapp opinions and that's mainly what he liked of me back then... for at least one had a different point of view and was gladly trying to make this game better. i must say that it kinda never good thought back then. in all cases what he saw in me in all of this was a person which wanted to see this game going somewhere else then int he drain.

want to be a mod so much, you gotta try and be known by tmyapp first, make something that will get his attention. that's what he wants from most of you guys... btw don't try and just talk to him on msn or add him as your buddy or trying to IM him... that won't be enough, you need to make something exceptionnal in this place something that will help the place a lot. if your not willing to make it that far then clearly you don't care for the community enough to be a mod !

to conclude i must remember the different members that asking to be a mod is prohibed. same goes for asking to be sponsored... those two questions are against the rules. our own rules of choice is "you ask you won't be !" so feel lucky that we don't do anything drastick to make you understand that !

tell yourself back then we worked hard to make it this far. so ask yourself what have you done to deserve such a position.

i'll give you a clue...
being active ALL THE TIME helps a lot... in 4 years there wasn't a week where i wasn't there !
i was here at least 1 hour each 2 days ! maybe not playing, but at least looking into things and even when the game was out we were there ! so being active all the time helps quite a lot to be known. having an opinion on all matters is also a pretty darn way to be and giving away idea's makes it also a good way ot be known, not that it will proove usefull in the end.

so take my advice and try to be known for something... playing the game isn't something tmyapp looks into, being the best player isn't good enough for him. it doesn't prooves anything if not only the fact that it boost your ego !

so be someone !

okay well to get back onto track, how about if you use RD you get that cheat saying like it won't hurt or help your score. I for one hate RD, atleast how it is on SFO, it is hard to hit with normal attacks unlike the arcade games I wouldn't mind keeping it, but it would have to be tweaked just a bit

but the thing about becoming a mod is, if you want to be a mod, forget about it, you won't be. there's not much you can do, you just have to be the correct kind of person, if you can't be one now, you won't be one later.


therefore becoming a mod = impossible, because Pinocchio never can become a real boy in a real life situation.

you know you guys don't even read correctly...
you know there is a tons of ways to be known by tmyapp...
for one there is the forum, which he is on almost everytimes reading the new features section.
not that he reads on that section he also reads general comment and strategie.

there is the game as well... he does come along a few times late in the night.
see there is at least 2 ways to get to be known.

but as i said, if you can't find even one way to be known then clearly you aren't made to be a mod.
windarossa, i know you like to give out your frustrated opinion. but i suggest you stop acting like you were the almighty girl that knows better then others in about all situations, it starts to get me annoyed and i can't stop thinking that i am maybe not the only one who is startled by your attitude.

anyway to be back on topic... there is a lot of ways to be known around here... you just have to find your own path !
