i know i might get banned for this, but sf sucks, it doesnt make sense that you people play crappy 2d games when you could be playing soul caliber*dr00l* or virtua fighter 4*dr00l* or even wrestling games*blech* im sick of street fighter, i played soul caliber and its so much better

2d games are best for graphics than 3d games !

i dont mean that soul caliber and others sucks no they dont !
but xmen and street fighter are from anims or comic book and you cannot put comic or anim in 3d it just dont fit in the game look at xmen mutant academy and tell me the chars are like the comic !

no you cant cause they are in 3d the color are too close to reality so the flamboyant color of wolvie doesnt look the same in a 3d game, same goes to street fighter ! i saw EX2 and beleive me i shouldnt have bought it cause of the name cause it really suck !

conclusion: anim or comic book characters are only good in 2d !
3d is reserved to other games !

yep i agree with ya there ssj karma. its one of the main reasons i don't like 3d games. a bit too realistic. all those comic characters look better in 2d.

The way I see it, one day I played Tekken tag team, I never really played the game so, I played against an experienced player, and almost beat him down, but then I just said wtf?!?! And lost on purpose. A newbie could beat an experienced person in a 3D game, but in a 2D game, it takes pure skill(for most characters). Button mashers don't stand a chance.

I just hate it when someone button mashes, and they say they are the best!

right..... anyways tekken sucks

SSJKarma
05-07-2002, 03:32 PM
i can be beaten by button masher but it's hard !

i always said to some people that smashing and yelling at the game wont make em win. of course i had to show em how the real deal had to be done ! i remember my friend saying that weapon lord on genesis was only beatable by ramming the button then i showed him what you could do if he new the moves of the chars !

man what a day he had !

to be on topic again ill say that 3d games are coming to a realism that i dont need, even thou i like tekken since it has real life moves ! (true martial arts)

xmen the movie was good but not excellant they getted out the life of the chars and get their own story !

i mean its not that way that rogue and wolvie met ! and rogue didn't get those white hair like that ! im not talking about the fact that she can fly cause i know she didn't get it in the first place ! then cyclops and the gang came in way before the school was actually open !

Spiderman was a real great movie but nothing compared to the comic book ! so...

YEAH ! 2d is better looking !

i have a friend who's a button smasher, whenever i play him on the computer he smashes the buttons so much that when i press my keys, they don't work. i tried to block but nothing happened.

2d is for fast gameplay, 3d is for slower gameplay because u can do combos in street fighter but in tekken tag u can only do a few hits and some moves are slow and something is wrong with their jumps... lol

I have to disagree with you there, Tarkan. There was this guy at work that would go on and on about how great he was at Tekken, Mortal Kombat, and fighting games in general. I'd never really played Tekken before I met him, but his cockiness motivated me, so I bought Tekken 3 and started training. I learned all the combos and moves for about 3 or 4 different characters, and challenged him. I was pretty confident going in to it, but I must say I was humbled greatly after playing him. He perfected me the first round we played, and I barely touched him the second. It's like he was ready for everything. He knew all the special moves and counters for everybody. It didn't matter that I had spent all that time learning my 3 main characters, he knew what to do and when to do it, and he had a very unpredictable strategy. Also, he never picked the same character twice. It may be true that a button masher may occasionally get lucky and randomly win a few rounds here and there, but I think that a true veteran of Tekken would wipe the floor with a newbie. The game is very complex.

As far as why I still like 2d games, it's because I grew up playing them. I've been playing video games since the days of of the 8-bit NES, and some of the best games I've ever played had crappy graphics. I put gameplay before graphics. There are plenty of decent 3d games out there, but how many of them will you remember 5 years from now as one of the greatest of all time? Street fighter is legendary.

2D and 3D each has its own advantages, but as far as Street Fighter goes how can ANYONE hate it?!? That game is legendary! It has already made Video Game History! As for Tekken experienced players can destroy those button smashers by easily countering their moves.

to me i don't really see a difference between the graphix of 2d and 3d games. i wouldn't even call them 3d and 2d. they're both 2 dimensional on a screen.

Physicals, my question to you is, why do you play 3-D games?
Im guessing your answer will be because "they're better!"

Well, take that reason and turn it around, that'd be mine and most of the people here's answer!

But more reason:
1) Because SF is the 2nd game I ever played in my life. (A system game)

2) Because it has a real nice series to it and it's an anime...

and
3) Because It's better than any other fighting game out... such as VF4 and Tekkens and shizo..

2D is the best for street fighter and any other anime game because of the basic graphics there's room for better game play and more characters a perfect example would be Street fighter something (can't remember might not be anything inbetween) Three it's made in 3D which is preaty cool graphic wize but the game over all sucks there's only about 14 characters and the supers super suck you have to choose only one you'll use and Ryu's shin Hadoken is a joke it's so slow you can just jump over it or cancel it out.Only good thing I found was if you're useing Eliza you can just take a beeting and still kick there ass because of her recovery move that's about the beat thing of the whole game. :( It's so #### slow you could beat the first stage of Mvs.Sf before Ken is don't releaseing his super! And that class is why Street Fighter and any other anime game is best played on a 2D platform.
Any quetions?

This same topic has been going on in senshuk...

I wonder what dan is gonna say about this...

Anyway, I think that a game has to have these things to be a great game (and everyone should agree with me):

1.Good controls
2.cool moves
3.good characters
4.An innovative combat system (one that works well and has lots of combos)
5.Lots of fighting styles
6.multiple modes of play (not entirely necessary to all but still makes the games a lot better)
7.Has to be... ...well... fun.

Add on your opinion to this. :)

Well SF has a better learning curve then the other two series. The graphics done are very awesome. The moves are spectular. SF has plenty of characters to chose from so boredom can't happen. 3rd Strike may not be the biggest combo game, but nonetheless the game engine was well done. Personal choice, everybody has a different opinion.

Personally i think that tekken is the single most greatest 3d fighting game ever but its slow. i prefer the 2d because they are much easier to control and the characters look better.

we talk about majority and that mean about 70% play it just to see KASUMI.

my cousin, some of my friend and others we are about 3 in my family who doesnt actually play a game for the char but for the gameplay !

Selvin
05-13-2002, 08:31 AM
Well maybe Mortal Kombat 5 will be better...

I heard you can change fighting styles on the fly and whip out a weapon if you have one, and use it that way. Sounds interesting, eh? I think I'll see how this develops...

princevegetam

never played DOA3, but i have a classmate who is obsessed with it. he is a pervert and plays it completely for the girls. he told me that in the end when you finish the game, there is this girl that's realistic who is in a bikini swimming with dolphins.

you didn't diss TMyApp !

but you say SF sucks, so basically a
person could think you hate this game.

that's all he wanted to say i think !

but like i said, anime are beter in 2D than 3D
example:
DBGT:final bout = crappy 3D, control not responding
X-men:mutant academy = good game good gameplay but graphics kind of not the real comic !

that's how i see it so yes i prefer play those kind of game in 2D

MEGAMAN7

It's not that it doesn't respond DBGT, it just responds slow unlike DBZ Hyper Dimention (A 2-D Game mind you)

05-14-2002, 02:22 PM
guys, why are you comparing 2d games to crappy 3d games. compare it to tekken, vf or doa. it's pretty much on the same level.

SSJKarma
05-14-2002, 06:26 PM
oh, i quit !

say whatever you want i think 2D and 3D
games cannot be compared ok.

x-men mutant academy wasn't bad prince it was prestty good just like TK or VF but you cannot compared them ok, its just not the same !

DX Zero
05-14-2002, 09:08 PM
you cant "move on to 3d" Physicals...
im sure everyone likes Sf and Tekken BOTH.. unless they really suck at one of them..
um think about that

tiga2001
05-15-2002, 06:59 PM
I think 2d games and 3d games shouldn't be compared because they are very different. Usually critics will give a better score to the 3d games because they have better graphics and sounds. But I think Soul Calibur and SF should both get ten. Sometimes 2d games are better, though. X-Men VS Street Fighter online is a good example. Because 2d is easier to render, we can play it on the internet with other people.
