Hello, dear readers. I know that normally this kind of topic in this area would be unacceptable, and would be automatically deleted (heck, it might still be deleted for all I know..). However, now that the other sections are gone, and since people are still posting in this forum.. I've decided to open this RPG up once more. As it stands, only two of the original people in this thread are still willing to post (Karma, and myself). Now, the people I still want to hear from (whether or not they're continuing) are Sbyrd, Razz, and R_Dragon_R. I'm hoping they'll answer soon: You see, they were also in this, but I originally left them the ability to leave the story in an honest, good, and powerful way. However, I only found out about Karma's "I'm staying here, damn it! >.<", so I'm waiting for them. However, to the new people who want to come... here's how it stands:
Right now, the characters in the story are:
Mizuki (My character; Magician)
Fang (Mine, but I'm looking for someone to be him!; Fighter)
Yanguz (Sbyrd's I think; and I'm not sure about the class)
Kedjin (Karma's; I'm not sure about the class)
Razz (Guess the owner; and I think he's a fighter..)
ShinRyu (R_Dragon_R; Mystical Dragoon?)
ShoRyu (R_Dragon_R; Mystical Dragoon?)
-We are currently in the mystical Moonlight Forest. It is inhabited by werewolves, and a select few humans who probably just wandered into the forest cluelessly (since the forest can never be found purposely by humans). The year is somewhere in Medieval times, so that means there are:
-No aliens with space ships and stuff...
-No guns, heavy metal rock bands, machines, etc...
-No electricity (save for storms, magic, and techniques)
-There are swords, shields, maces, hammers, flails, etc. If you must, think FF6/3 for weapons and armor if you do not understand.
-There is a whole, big world out there. It's not a wasteland, and it's not ALL battles and stuff. There are beautiful, natural places, much unlike anything that anyone can see today.
-There... um... are gods, if it applies to your character. However, don't expect that everyone will believe in that god, or any god at all. That's their decision, and as far as the people that live in villages and such, you must assume that they do not believe in/know of the god or that they believe in something else.
-The Villages are normal, and, yes, you do need time if you are to buy something in the towns. However, you don't get time by killing off monsters and such (that's just an FF thing..). You can trade for stuff though. However, try not to go in too deep with shopping, k? We don't find something better than we already have at "the next town". In fact, you basically just keep your original weapon (if you have one) and armor unless you need to replace it, or you justwant to use a different weapon (which would mean that you may need new armor to use it properly)
-There is magic and special abilities. However, be reasonable if you can use either. No one can use either one all the time, in a split second, and kill someone/something automatically. You have to keep in mind that spells have incantations, and that it takes time to say them. Also, special abilities and techniques are something that you can do many times (unless it has a special rule; I'll get into that later) and are used like magic: They need time to start up. While it's starting up, the other characters (non-player or player) can still do things; same goes with magic.
-There are Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses, castles, Dukes, etc.. Just don't over do it, k?
-There are many different kinds of poisons, monsters, tricks, etc. >.<
Now... How about we go over the more technical stuff, k? (You can skip this part, but I would read it if you want more info about this rpg and how it will work).
Magic and Special Abilities:
Magic and Special Abilities are nothing too special. It's like a special move from a video site... only it's yours. However, keep in mind that unless the enemy is weak to it (and very few enemies will be weak a certain attack) it will not be very powerful. Also, you can't use techs and magic all the time. You have to rest from the usage of them, and recover any lost energy/mana. You can't just fire off all types of magic/techs one after another without it taking a toll on your vitality or body. It will have an effect on you. Be realistic.
Elemental Attributes/Status Attributes:
Yes, there are elements and statuses. The elements on this rpg (from what I can tell, since I am basically the one and only magic user here so far..) are Light, Dark, Lunar (moon), Wood, Fire, Water, Wind, and earth. Of course, each element has their corresponding strengths, techs, magics, weaknesses, etc. As far as weakness go however, it's like this..
*= where the line of weakness starts.
Light
*
Fire*xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx|xxxxxxxxxxxxxxWater
X | X* /\
X | X / \
X | X / \
X | X ( lunar )
X | X ---------
X | X
X | X --------
X (Earth)
X | X \ /
X | X \ /
X | X \/
X | X*
Wind* XXXXX|XXXXX Wood
*
Dark
As you can see, fire is weak against water, Water against wind, Wind against wood, Wood against fire, and light and dark are both weak against each other. Earth and Lunar have no weaknesses, but they have no strengths either, since Earth is mainly a compilation of all the elements combined, and Lunar is just status inducing magic (sorry, no moon techs). Keep in mind that Light and Dark magic/techs/attributed people are not always good or bad. They could be bad and still use light magic, or be good and use dark magic. It all depends on the person. Also, any person can use any/all of the elements, but you have to choose between light and dark. They will determine the strengths of your abilities (if you choose one at all..). Now.. Status effects.
As you can guess, Status Effects are status changes induced by techniques, magic, and other things (like poison darts, hypno disks, etc.). A status can mean ANYTHING, besides damage, unless it applies. The person could get sick, the person might not be able to hear anything, the person could go blind... whatever! Just keep in mind that all status effects can be healed. The status effects include (but are not limited to) poison, sleep, sicknesses, confusion, mute, deafness, blindness, disabled from using certain types of techs (like, you can't use attack magic, but you can use indirect and healing, etc.), strength reducement, defence reducement, speed reducement, Vitality reducement, and many more. Instant Death is one status effect... but it can only be done by certain people who go into darkness... no light user can use it. And when used, the person becomes incapable to fight for a LONG period of time. It is a powerful spell, but as with all powerful spells and techniques, it comes with a price.
Magic/Tech learning abilities when related to elements:
When relating your person to an element, there are some things to consider. For one thing, which element or elements? If you choose more than one, will you keep your abilities in each element equal (which will never allow you to master one element, and gain the best techs and magic for that element), or will you master one element and let the rest stay at their moderate stages of strength (Strongest abilities in one element, and you can still use the strong abilities of the other elements you choose though they will be much weaker than the mastered element)? You have to choose what's right for you. But keep in mind, that elements clash with each other, so you have to choose wisely which elements you use (I wouldn't keep Water, wind, and fire altogether, if I were you).
Techs/Magic in general:
This is the fun part. You can make up your OWN magic/techs! Give it a name, effect, etc. Or you could just take other techs/Magics already used in other places (sites, stories, etc.) and have your character be able to use it. It's your character, you choose. But you cannot have high level spells at low levels. So...
Level up system?!:
Is there a level up system? I'd have to say: "Not really". You see, Levels are based on exp, but exp comes from more than just battles! EXP comes from almost everything you do. Keep in mind that some things offer less exp than others. Your characters abilities must be learned at proper exp points. Be fair, or don't be in the RPG at all...
Vital Statistics:
What I mean by this is, how fast your speed is, how strong you are, how powerful in magic are you, how weak are you, etc. You must remember that each persons stats balance out. So if you choose to be strong in magic, you'll be strong in magic and can defend against magic well, but you will be physically weak or vise versa. Speed is counter-acted by Dexterity, however. If you have a high speed, you will most likely be able to miss an attack a lot, since you're zooming all over the place like crazy and have barely any time to attack. However, if you have two things that are supposed to be weak/strong in accordance with each other (such as your a strong attacker and you can use magic well), you'll be weaker in all the other things (like Magic defense, normal defense). Here's a list so you know what will be weak depending on what your character is strong in and vice versa (of course):
Strong Caster=Weak fighter
Strong Magic Defense= Weak Normal defense and Vitality
Speedy=less chance of landing a hit
Strong caster & Fighter= weak defences
Speedy and Dextrous= weak attack strength and magic power.
And I think you get the point from here. If you choose to be an all round type, you cannot have large differences between each stat, and your stats will be "ok" and not "Great!" or "Bad...".
Now that I have covered that, let's cover rules:
1. Do not control/use other characters unless you need to. If you do use a character use it like they would do.
2. Do not make yourself or anyone else the hero, unless your just saving someone from death or something. They can be in the middle of a plot, though. This is an example of what you cannot do in this hero case:
[Person 1: Mizuki was being attacked from above, when suddenly Taceaus came out of nowhere and hit the attacker out of the way. Mizuki was not able to see the attack, but Taceaus could, so it would be all up to him...]
If you can't tell, we don't want that "It's all up to me" stuff, unless everyone is knocked out or pre-occupied, or you are seperated from the group, in which case you would be on your own anyway.
3. Do NOT act like your character is a god. Every character can be hit, killed, etc. Your character will be no exception unless they are special in the ways of certain things. Think of the section above with the vital statistics when wondering about this. Every character should be balanced out accordingly. Anyone who ignores this rule (and has been warned) will be ignored throughout the rest of the rpg until they start playing fair again. NO EXCEPTIONS.
4. Your character can only do one technique at a time, darn it. >.<
5. Please write all non-rpg related comments and things between and .
6. Get along with each player as best as you can.. you can keep conflicts in the story, like (for instance) your character dislikes mine and tries to avoid helping her and such.
7. You don't have to be good. You can be evil. But no matter what, please respect the players abilities...
8. No flaming about how another character is higher in level than you or something. That's just childish..
9. Respect other players! If you start mean talk with a player about something unimportant, or you make fun of them, then you can just kiss your character and place in this rpg goodbye. I will NOT tolerate anyone being made fun of in this rpg because of who they are, or how they rp. You can, however, make fun of their character IN THE STORY with your own character. Then you can wait for when that ridiculing will blow up in your face.
10. Don't complain about how others write stories. Everyone has their own style. Live with it.
11. No excessive profanity, and other such things.
12. Don't double post, unless you exceed the post limit.
13. Anyone can join. Don't say no to someone joining JUST because you don't like them. Everyone deserves a chance.
14. No instant kills.
15. No killing other characters without their permission. This is another stressed rule. You better obey it.
16. When joining, as with everything else, stick to the story. Be sure to work your character into the story. Please don't do something like: "Oh, hi, I'm joining your group now..". Please make sure to give your character a reason for being in the rpg (whether it was a kidnapping, or because they don't like another character because of something that supposedly happened between them and they want revenge, etc. )
17. When you want your character to interact with another character (like you want to be a brother, long lost love/ best Friend, or rival) make sure you pm them for permission, ok? This is optional though...
18. Have FUN! I can't stress this enough... ^-^
