Banner - An image or animation etc. above ones Website, Forum etc.

Sig/Tag - An image or any sort of identification material situated under a user's post on a forum etc.

Splash - An image that is usually (not always) placed on an entrance page to a website or forum to state the purpose,name etc. of the site/forum

Wallpaper - A large image that is used as a background for your computer's desktop depending on your computer's resolution. Resolution's vary from 640x420 up to around 1280x1024. Most common however is 1024x768

Learn to know the difference, sheesh

You know, I didn't really read all of this on this page. Tim's statement is true and it should be pinned... :p

its true and i have done it but jus cuz something is true or 'enlightening' dusnt qualify it to be pinned... thing is that some of the 'sigs' i make for people that are submitted as 'sigs' are put up as 'banners' in the person website or sumthin... who cares of the actual meaning of it, all it matters that when u utter the word... the other person would understand wut hes saying... tim u did see me write banner but dunt tell me u didnt actually think i was reffering to sig, rite? all it matters is that u understood wuts been said. if sum1 makes a sig and then he later decides to put it on his website as a banner, wut happens then? magically the sig becomes a banner, or wut? ???
