Hey,

I remember first playign Pokemon in late '98. I remember a commercial where there was this vacuum that sucked these monsters, they called them pocket monsters. I didn't understand the commercial, but there was a show. The show was okay, though I wasn't really hooked on it.

Then my friend and I talked, he said pokemon owned so much, that I should get the blue version, since he had the red version. I didn't have a game boy at the time(this point in time for me was when I wasn't really into video games, I would just watch TV, go outside, and excersise). So i got a game boy color, and pokemon blue, and when I was thoroughly playing it, I WAS HOOKED!!!

This game is almost as strategic as chess! People battle it out with their pokemon, their raised to the highest levels, some people would make ####ie decisions in using your starting pokemon(charizard for example) for an ultimate team(which is REALLY bad).

Anyways, when people now see pokemon, they see a game that's dead, the hype being over. Also, when they see/hear pokemon, they think of Pikachu, since that's the first sense that kicks into them. Pikachu = kiddy. Pokemon wouldn't be kiddy, but it was the companies that milked Pokemon, and Pikachu for children that made it kiddy. If there was no children pokemon products that consecutively got milked, pokemon would be as good, hell, even better than final fantasy.

Read my quote again, Pokemon is NOT kiddy, it was the companies that made it kiddy.

How the game goes? It's VERY deep. There's the quest to beat the game which doesn't take long, to catch all pokemon which takes a good while, and to have the strongest well built team in the world. People that are casual gamers would go for the 1st one, people that really like the game would go for the 2nd, and people who like competition would go for the 3rd(I am described as the 3rd).

Before you vote, read what I just said, Pokemon is MUCH deeper than a yellow rodent, you have to play the game before you judge it, and I believe most of you didn't. And even if you did, your peers probably kept critisizing pokemon, such idiocy, for a game they never played. It's like someone critisizing Zelda, Final Fantasy, or even Mario.

And by the way, the site I will be making would make you WANT to get pokemon, infact, I have connections with Nintendo(though small), and if my site goes great, I could hold national, and very soon, world tournaments for as much as one million dollars.

although some people think my names kinda camp imreally a erdington boy....and even i was addiceted to pokemon on the the gameboy. ive complted blue yellow and silver...so sad i remember how in blue i never let pikachu evolve ...how sad was that..pokemon is old but when it was good it was dam class ..i rememeber in year 7...(memories) i was a pokemon card legend....no really i was. i had fossils cards. like a year b4 they had come out in england and i sold charizard 2 some fool for 12pound! i never once baught a pack though i had the best cards.apart from my friend chris... who by the way sometimes play xmen ..his log in is EX2....anyway..i was a lil haggler.

i used to love playin with pokemon cards everyone had some our school had to even make a new rule to stop kids from bringing them. I also love the game the one i played was pokemon gold.

I'll admit I was addicted to this thing I watched the show, and the games and even have some cards...But now i dont watch the show...the games are still kinda fun..even though they are repetitive now..and I have the cards in some dusty binder in my closet...but it was cool, not so much anymore..but it was.

yeah... i kinda learned how to play those damn POKEMON BATTLE CARDS !
it was hooking me up really good !
now i that i found a place to buy DBZ starting deck, i can retry going into it !

well... back to pokemon...

i kinda loved the GBC games, but suddently a lost the beat to it... why ? because the game was so repetitive that i couldn't really stay hooked for long... plus the story was so.... i mean, it was not very attractive, the engine was great tho for a GBC game !

now, i will try POKEMON CRYSTAL / RUBY on GBA !
seems to have an over amped new ENGINE !
tho it isn't out for us yet !
jap only !

anyway !

the TV show sucks hard, not always, but most of the time !
the games were at least a little bit better !

I hate Pokemon, but when I found a little Gameboy emulator on the net, I played a couple Pokemon games for seven hours straight.. mostly everything else relating Pokemon should burn :0

lol Man in 6th grade up to 8th I was crazy on it. I loved the game I played blue,red,yeollow,gold plus the pokemon on N64. My friends try to get me in the cards but i didnt like it. But now I look back on it im like well it was a fad. But now they are coming out with pokemon sapphire and rubby. Im like what da hell just stop its getting played out and gay.

well... i rather loves BATTLE CARDS then the TV show !
actually, games are always better then the TV SHOW, except for the case of DBZ which the show is like 20 fold better then any other game ! except perhaps for the latest BUDOKAI and the one who is coming, that one which will have ANIME FMVs and that you will play the story till you get to BUU !

anyway...
Pokemon, is old right now, but DBZ is that old too, just a question, what is the latest ANIME that came out ? i mean, all those who play are all above 5 years old ! so my guest is... kids just want more of em ! that's all !

well me I loved the pokemon game when I first played it, I would carry it with me all the time, playin outside in the car and all........ I was hooked like most of U say :D I was always battling with other people to get my pokemon stronger.........and we would have little competitions against one another.......if U losed the match U had to surrender your strongest pokemon......... I surrendered my Dragonite and my Charizard but won a lot after......... I was on a roll.........then I just stopped playin because nobody would play the game anymore......... I loved the game but don't get it twisted, I don't like the show :biggrin:

Pokemon the video games are pretty good. Like Tark said, people get too caught up with the childish gayness of the TV show and the gayness of pikachu, and never give the game a chance. The video games actually require a strategic mind to beat them. However, i think the show is mad gay and the card game is just as bad (as far as CCGs/TCGs go, it's prolly the worst one i've ever encountered. Yugioh is a fairly simple-concepted/poor-strategy card game, and it far surpasses Pokemon. However, as far as actual video games go, Pokemon's not really that bad.

When i was once hooked onto the Blue version, I then became hooked on the TV show. It was a race to get 151 pokemon between my friends, and I was the first to get them.
After I had A LOT of cards, the pokemon craze eventually left me. This time was the dark ages for me, I forgot a lot about baseball and was just crazy about pokemon. I was glad the times were over.
I never really played the yellow, silver, gold, or crystal versions. I wasn't that interested in pokemon then, but the games were REALLY good. If I had a gameboy advance I would definitley get the new versions out.

ok first pokeman was just a fad lasted till some kids started making fun of it then it went down hill another thang thay added what 50 new pokemon at one time thats what got me off it i mean i was 14 watching a pikacho dance around in a dress and i coudent keep up with all the new episodes

well..............i hated that show pokemon. matter of fact i still do. i remember being in middle school where people were trading and sellin cards. and i even saw people with their gameboys linked up battling each other. i thought the world was coming to an end.

so here is my opinion, the people who created pokemon shall burn in hell and sizzle in their own juices.

matter of fact i remember this oe south park episode. it had somethin talkn bout chipokemon. thats exactly how middle school was.

Yes i agree with alot of you tho, The show and cards are just plain stupid. The show is practacly the same thing over and over, the cards are a waste of good money. What tarkan said about the companies making it fruity is true. If they really wanted to they would make it for older ages like teens, but think of it this way...............

Who plays the most video games? Children do
Who Watches more cartoons? Children do
Who Buys stupid cards? Children do

So now you know why they target the younger youth, because they can make more money off of them that the older crowd. If they made it for older ages they would lose interest very quickly since they are so close to there adult hood and will pretty soon have to act mature. So they target youth because they have more of there childhood in them and will get hooked for much longer. Making the companies happy and making more and more products for them to eat up.

I can say that "XMvsSF is gay, that $hit is for little kids. its just a waste of time, only little stupid kids play that game" and most of you wont even agree with me.

Why? because you guys know that its not just for kids. People of all ages play this game but people are going to hate because there going to hate. Ignorance drives that hate.

Here is my opinion: Well, i think the line of pokemon games has so much potential if people just gave it a chance. I hardly play any video games, but Pokemon Red is one of the few ive got hoooked on.

Like tarkan said, its like chess. If you know how to play the game then you will really get a hang of it. People would just consintrate on getting your pokemon's level as high as they could and get the strongest moves as they can, but its not even like that. Even a weak pokemon can defet even the most strongest of monsters if you know how to use him.

Having a game like this can actually strike something bigger like online play. people around the world can have there little mosters and battle eachother like a huge tournament. I really dont know about the other game because the only game i was hooked one was Pokemon Red and Blue. The game has so much dept to it, you really do have to be good at it to beat your fellow friends.

my opinion is that the game sucks. cause whats the deal with little animals with crazy powers. plus i dont like to spend most of my time trying to level up those pokemon so i can get a gym badge. if you ask me there are too many pokemon games as it is. its mostly the same thing.
Pokemon is the same as ANY RPG. You level up your characters, gain more moves and abilities, increase the strength of your stats, and defeat bosses (in the form of Gym Leaders). The only reason ppl think Pokemon VIDEO GAMES are for kids is because the TCG and cartoon are targetted for kids. Ppl think that the games are gay just because they have little monsters, but if you get past that outer cover of little monsters, the games actually require quite a bit of strategy. Think Final Fantasy-type strategy.

And I could easily say that there are too many Final Fantasy games as it is, they're mostly the same thing. However, you would stand up for FF and not Pokemon because FF doesn't have little monsters, and instead has people and such. Ppl get too hung up on the "little pikachu" bull######## and automatically put it down as a game, even before they give it a chance.

and actually i dont like final fantasy games either cause its too much of the same thing. i actually think that legend of dragoon is one of the best rpgs out there.

Yo u might not believe me but, I do the same $hit with Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Now that $hit is really getting annoying all the dam geeks and no life lames at my school play it. And what pisses me off about this is they Let Them play there games but we cant play our cardgames like spades and tunk. :angryfire: Now the cartoon is dope but I will never play the card game. (unless they make a portable stage with holograms of the monster like on the show) :biggrin:

Personaly..I hate Pokemon.
More so..I hate the cartoon...and the cutesy putesy..lil kid characters....Grrrr...

How ever..I have played the card game...and I like the card mechanics. It's a simplified version of Magic The Gathering. (alot like MTG alpha...kinda)
Where you have opposing colors and abilities that corrospond to the color, or colors that operate very effectively with another color or two.

the video game it's self...mehh.
Again good mechanics...crappy kiddie characters.

If the creators of Pokemon would drop the lil kid image and theme....they would/could become all the rage again.

But since they cateer to the lil tikes...Pokemon is a total turn off to folks like myself. who prefer more teen/adult like content.

Turn the Pokemon into some sorta Mech...and I'd not have a bad word about it.

nosoul: On the contrary, I can't stand the card game. I believe it to be a cheap rip-off from Magic (which is arguably the greatest CCG out there). However, what I do share is your dislike of the overall kiddy aspect of the game and TV show. However, if you played the video game w/o ever watching the show or knowing about the entire Pokemon craze (very reminiscent of Beanie babies and tickle me Elmos....XD), it is still pretty cool. Very few of the monsters in the video game are the cutsey shiznit in the TV show, there are quite a few cool-looking ones.

And I've got quite a few Level 100 guys myself...actually, I've got like 5 full boxes of Level 100 guys, also w/o stupid basic attack/defense weakeners. All with maxed out attack/defense/speed/spattack/spdefense stats and maxed out HP.

I just don't use 'em anymore because it takes out the fun, the challenge.

i have blue, yellow, red and silver versions. i can't seem to find crystal, its always sold out.

there's a new version called sapphire and ruby. it's only for gba though.

edit: i'm playing silver for only 6 days. but i'm stuck up in the pokemon league. i'm battling with Koga now. i can beat him with my Pidgeot. he's pokemon is weak to my 'fly' attack. and then i finish him off with a 'swift'. my quilava hasn't evolved to typhlosion yet. i hate those two daycares. they charge 100 for every level. and my quilava has only grown by 2 levels.

yep pokemon used to be pretty cool when i looked at rare monsters on the tv show but now it gets boring cuz ash always wins and they are the same old pokemon and ya i kinda used to like to play pokemon cards can kicked everyones ass using my holographic zapdos and i still have it.and yugioh is pretty much a copy version of pokemon.

I remember this legendary battle with my best friend in 8th grade. Both of us had Pokemon Silver and are excellent trainers. However, neither of us has a level 100 Pokemon...

Anyway, the battle was quite even. Eventually, it turned to his side, and he was knocking off my Pokemon, but not without taking some very hard hits himself. I had one Pokemon left, my strongest L84 Articuno. He had about 4 Pokemon left. I finished the 1st of the 4, since all but one was low on energy. He had been saving a particular Pokemon until he really needed it. This time was now, and I was unprepared for his L91 Mewtwo. As a smart trainer, he led me into battle with no idea what I was up really up against...but that was about it. Luckily, I had forgotten this one thing I did a few weeks before battling. I had put a Focus Band on Articuno. I'm not the surest person of why I did it, but he gladly held on to it. Simply because of a mistake, his Mewtwo got me down to 1HP left. That, of course, was after about 2 turns. It was my turn again, and I finished his Mewtwo with an Ice Beam. He still had two Pokemon left...tired, but willing to fight. He pulled out...umm...I forgot, but I attacked. Its energy was climbing down, and then...stop. I was sure I was finished now. But then, "***** uses *****, but Articuno has Focus Band." I'm not sure if thats what it said, but I was bery happy. Not showing my joy, I finished his Pokemon, and he pulled out his last one. With Articuno being faster, and this Pokemon already low on HP, I attacked and finished the battle, putting yet another win under my belt. Since we were battling on a 16 seat Chevy, and we were on different rows, I was unable to shake his hand...or maybe he didn't want to...I'd be the slightest bit p!$$ed as well, but I was happy as f!@#. I held it in, and looked out of the window, thinking about the most epic and dramatic battle I've ever had...and probably will ever have.

It's funny... only the ones that like to act tough and show off have said that they don't like the game, and that it's not even worth being made...

Anyway, I like pokemon. I like the shows. I like the cards. I love the movies. I especially love the pre-movie with only the pokemon, and not the trainers (especially the first one, in the first pokemon movie... Togepi is so cute. ^-^); but, since this is just about the game, then... what can I say? I've never been able to get any other game except for the red version (literally), and I've only borrowed the crystal version. So my experience with the game has been basic... I haven't had the chance to train with many pokemon, other than the first 150 (152, if you count getting the secret pokemon, Yoshi, and the "glitch", Mew.) and a few of the other 100 (especially Togepi). However, since I couldn't get the game, I decided to read up on the pokemon... you know, about how they are battle-wise, what their actual size is, a little bit on their bio's, if, how, and what they evolve into, what games they are in, etc. So, as you should see by now, I'm a bit hooked. ^-^

Sorry to say, but there is no Yoshi, unless its in Japan, which I seriously doubt. Mew is the 151st Pokemon, not a glitch. The glitch is called Missingno., and can seriously mess up your game. I've seen it in action. That glitch Pokemon lost the first Pidgeot I had traded to a friend who had caught Missingno. He had to start all over simply because of that. However, I'm sure you knew that, right?

I got hooked on the game when I was like 14 I think or was it 15 i don't remember very well.Im like 17 and i still love the game.I don't care what other people say about pokemon i just love the game and I know im goin to buy the new version's of the game when they come out. :D

I man come on in Gold and Silver the game hd it's own clock time it turned night time and day time....you could catch different pokemon at those times....Days went by like Monday,Tuesday,Wedensday,...and there were daily tournaments...and contest....HELL THERE WAS EVEN A RADIO SHOW STATION,and you had a cell phone a radio, your own room,you could buy stuff from the corner store to style your room..

IF YOU PLAY GOLD and SILVER or RUBY and Saphire you will be hooked...

Missing No. is a glitch that looks like a Totem Pole

You get him by talking to the guy who tells you how to catch Pokemon in Viridian, say No, then after, fly to cinibar, surf up an down the right of Cinnabar(so you are touching the land of cinnabar, but not exactly on it). Then when you go into the battle mode, the screen will stay black longer than it usually is, then you'll know it's missing No.

Like Joe said, DON'T catch it

If you want to duplicate Items, put the item you want in the 6th poisition.
