Concerning the whole "Is America stingy when it comes to foreign aid?" topic ect.. well heres some good quotes from across the internet where um.. Americans who actually like politics ect.. like to debate.... For justice and liberty to all...
injoy..

- "If the good ole U.S.A. did what many here believe we should we would gut our country of anything of value and give it to all the other countries, we would melt down every military gun, airplane and ship to build homes for the pennyless and the whole world would be a kinder gentler place after the next Hitler takes over."

- "Did anyone point out the exchange rate?!? 1 American dollar = 38.8961 Thailand Baht! That is huge! The fact is whatever we give is more than we have to."

- "The U.S. will never be popular in most eyes around the world regardless of its policies. No matter how much it donates, or how much military support it supplies, there will always be a multitude of critics. How people can have such a vicious hatred for a country that through its actions has ensured your freedoms to spew your vitriole is
beyond me."

-"America has already made contributions that few countries can even
think of matching. Using Navy ships and helicopters to airlift
supplies to the people who's homes have been destroyed is not minor. Not every form of aid has to be money, in fact I would argue giving money to people is wasteful, as much of it get funnelled elsewhere. Supplies, manpower and equipment are a much better use of resources"

-"How much have you given if bush is so cheap?"

-"Charity it not a requirement nor is it a contest."

LAST buT NOT LEAST.....I like this one alot...
---------------------------------------------------
"What number would be "acceptable"? If the U.S. donated
300 billion would that be acceptable? What if Japan then donated 400 billion, would you call the U.S. stingy because they can't beat the Japanese? This whole argument is insane."
------------------------

In closing as you can see there are MANY sides to this whole thing just search the internet. Many people come on this forum talking about politics when no one here really wants to debate or like debating. So I thought it would be nice for the Americans to actually have some line of defense against your own country when its put down by not giving. Injoy these quotes.. love em, hate em, just dont flame em lol.

Also in closing of this thread, I'll like to post one last quote for the icing on the cake. For all the Americans on this board.. I say thanks for everything.

"The U.S. is holding back on foreign aid? I find that very hard to believe considering tht we are in the middle of a war, a defecit, just got done spending hundreds of millions of dollars on the hurricane crises in the south, and we still have to deal with the everyday expenses of existance.
Let's talk about those countries that are so much better than the U.S., such as Britain and Australia. Britain gave 100,000 and Aus. gave 80,000. Why aren't they being maimed in the media? Also consider that the U.S. had to deal with its own problems concerning the hurricanes. I don't recall ANY nation giving ten dollars to our cause, and I also don't recall any darn liberals whining about that.
Come on people, don't sit on your idealistic butt. If you really
were dedicated to the cause, you would give some of your own funds, or go over to one of the affected nations and lend some hard work. Sitting around complaining about the Big Bad United States not giving every shred of its funding to the tsunami victims isn't going to help anyone. Put your money where your mouth is, or shut up"
