1. pwn
PWN (verb)
1. An act of dominating an opponent.
2. Great, ingenious; applied to methods and objects.
Originally dates back to the days of WarCraft, when a map designer mispelled "Own" as "Pwn". What was originally supose to be "player has been owned." was "player has been pwned".
Pwn eventually grew from there and is now used throughout the online world, especially in online games.
1. "I pwn these guys on battlenet"
2. "This strategy pwns!" or "This game pwn."

i think that is sooooo true. Cuz howcome is it that you would say "own" but say it ass "pwn"
own, owned
pwn, pwned
True, the O anbd P buttons are next to each other. But like XxEl_PeCaDoRxX said. i like the first definition. Dominating. That sounds appropriate.
I know, some of what i wrote was already said.

I'ts nice to know that. But we're looking for where the word "pwn" or "own" came from.
We know what it means. Now we need to know "if anyone knows" where it was first used.

only you people will guess these correct
Warmor

Not sure if the Warcraft statment is fully correct, but it is just a misspelled word, like where almost all of this "leet" speak comes from.
It's hard to get an actually pinpoint on these things, but a strategy or FPS is an ideal choice.
People say they "owned" you in a match. Misspelled to "pwned". Might have happend in several games and then people kept doing it. Just like "n00b", "j00", "teh", "1337", and so forth. It starts by a type or someone trying to be "cute", and goes from there.

no warmor, it originated in warcraft, i remember playing it and it saying that and we were like wtf, and then went to bitching about hoarding resources...
anywho, i check out the site he refered to urban dictionary (http://www.urbandictionary.com), and it's definitions aren't that far off, it's got plenty of the wolfenstien enemy territory's word for n00bs in it so it appesed me. but it's definition of leet, seemed a little off. i think i remember hearing it before razor1211 and all the piracy got big...
