Whats a dat file - Does any one know..

i got a email and it has an attchment that is a 'DAT FILE' (.dat) and it says if i oppen it it could damage my computer...( this is a returned email from the dev team) and i was just wondering what a DAT FILE is... ???

Uh.. uh.. uh..hmm..uhh.... best guess would be.. uh.. a file extension for Palm Pilot programs?Lol

oh, and what's the file name? Like what does it say before .dat? Doesn't happen to be..rdxr020305.dat ? lol

lol it could be a virus, or a useless file, i wouldnt think u get a dat file if u do anything ordinary, if u got it from a spam mail its a virus.... if u dont know what it is, delete it :D
