Well, my teacher gave me homework over the holiday and I have no idea how to do it. The book is not helping and neither is the informational internet sites. If you know how to write forumals then plz teach me.
Ex: Mercury(II), carbonate

Alright just post your homework questions and i'll c what I can do. And just check the periodic table for the list of element formulas, compounds are the formulae of each element combined, you have to balance out the equations as well. Eg: lets take respiration in plants.

Carbon Dioxide + Water -> Glucose + Oxygen. The formula is 6CO2 + 6H2O -> C6H12O6 + 6O2.

lol i just finished chemistry n moving on to physics

Mercury(II) carbonate Hg(CO3)2

thy share electrons... its an ionic compound....the combining capacity has to be switched n since CO3 has 1..1 in never written in chemical formulas so thy y Hg is alone ... the combining capacity frm mercury is transfered to CO3..since it cant be written as CO32...has to be ( ) parenthesis...2 outside the parenthesis

Hope this helps:p

Well, guys and gal something came up and i'm not at home. So, I don't have my homework with me, but I do remember some questions. If it ends with -ate or -ite or whatever. What does it mean? And what is the difference between sulfate and sulfite? I know I have more questions and I will be back home on Sunday about 6pm eastern. If any of you are on you can help me?

Thanks a million guys AND gal.

The ending suffix -ide and -ate is talking about the charge of the group of atom(s). If the group of atom(s) has a negative charge then the name of that ion/group of atom ends with the suffix -ide. The the group of atom(s) has a postive charge then it ends with he suffix -ate.

Also the diffrence between Sulfate and Sulfite is the formula, the formula for Sulfate is SO (4 at the bottom, after o....Negative 2 at the top after the 4)

And the formula for Sulfite is SO (3 at the botto after the O...and Negative 2 at the top after the 3) SUlfite and Sulfate are similar but diffrent, but they they are made from Sulfur the element....Hope i helped u...
