ok, ur set with 3 senerios, and you can only choose 2:

summer school: you failed an important test and must go in order to make up for the course. if youdont, u might get left back.

summer job: your mom is poor. infact, there aint much she can do, and theres nothing you can do for urself, like buy new clothes, games, etc. plus, u wanna help her out. you getting a job is the only way to get more money.

summer fun: you know, hang out with ur friends, act the fool, be free, etc...

now choose wisely and give ur opinions and reason.

i gonna tell u about my friend going through this. his name is alex.

alex is heading toward severe proverty. his mom has a big paycheck but far much bigger money problems. back in march, the landlord raised rent from 850 to 950, and she only gets 900 every other week. now she also has a car she got rid of a month ago. nearly everyweek, nearly every part of that car has been breaking down for a few years now, and each year gettin worst, and last year the head gasket blew. u know how embarrassing it is to drive down the street with a mile-long cloud of smoke behind u? 3 mechanics he been to is now gettin sick of seeing that car. and plus, there are some clothes he would like to wear, and new games he would love to get, and a computer he wants to repair, and a bike he really wants to replace after it got stolen. but his mom cant do it anymore for now, not for a very long time. the only way he gonna help with the bills and get what he want is a job at the autozone around the corner of our block.

alex even admitted it himself, he an idiot at math. and he recently failed the math A regents test. now he gotta go to summer school to retake the test or he have to deal with 10th grade again.

alex only has a few friends, but he had alot of plans for the summer. go to the movies, ride bike with us, a lil b-ball, and some of the games to play he wanna get.

-now if he takes the job and summer school, he can advance grades and get the things he needs and wants. but we wont get to see him again.

-if he takes summer school and hangin out with us, he might even get evicted but he advance in school.

-if he takes the job and hanging out with us, he can work a morning shift then see us, but he be left back in school. i told him dont think about cutting summer school, he needs to pass the math A. i dont even know which one he should do, he's a real cool guy though.

oaky, this is your friends problem. he wants to much but has too little. my family is poor too, and guess what? i dont even THINK about getting a new game, or going to the movies, or buying new colthes. IM BROKE. no need to try to live like the rich people, im broke, and so is my family.

okay, first offf, alex is poor. he "doesnt" have any money to go to the movies, right? or buy games, or whatever.

he should get a part time job at auto zone, after school. he should take summer school, and tell his friends see you next year. but tell him he not only should get a job at auto zone, but give his mom all the money he gets. why? because she needs it more then him and is probably better at managing it.

when the going gets tough, you should deal with it instead of finding ways to bypass it.

:laugh: Easiest decision I would ever have to make. Go to summer school got to have your education man. I mean I have seen where people get super nice jobs who've not done well in school before. Though it was realllllly hard for them because of it. Secondly the job isnt as important as school. Third if the job oppertunity arises take it if you want if you really need the cash. If it was me I would go to summer school breeze through it. Get the job earn some cash get a bank account start saving up. Leave the job once school starts back up. Concentrate on my grades and start plaining for my career. Then go from there to success. Though as you can see it all starts from school. Though do whatever you want its not me. :laugh: By the way friends come a dime a dozen I wouldnt give a rat's ass what they thought.

Of course, there's the easy way, which would be to get a job and cut summer school.
but then there's the right way. He should totally take summer school and get a job. It's only one summer, and it will be over eventually.
There's something called delayed gratitude. I tell you now, if he does the right thing, he will be so glad that he did when it's over.
If he cuts summer school, the actual school year will suck ass.
Two months of not hanging out with friends is nothing compared to a school year of not being in any classes with any friends.

I didnt say it was all work and no play, i actually said that the 2 scenerios that for me would be the best were 2 & 3, this lets you be able to work for what you need for finance's, and it also lets you able to have fun in the summer heat, being in school in the heat is hard enough, but not being able to enjoy it the whole summer would definately not be a choice i would make..
but then again, if he did fail this important exam, he should study hard over the summer, and if he has to stay back because thats ultimately what he must do if he wasnt to progress in life, then he will need to stay back..

And i dont know why any of you are leading these scenarios into my own life because were talking about Solid's friend, but i for one need to have my summer..

-that bike is the only thing that can keep me moving around quick and fast, i cant keep walkin around far, far distances.

-that bike helps me carry home them heavy groceries bags, u ever walked home 5 long blocks with 4 bags of juice?

-that bike is keepin my mobility free; no more payin $2 to take bus and train. and once i get the money, i gettin my bike back.

saijin: thats the stupidest thing i ever heard. who would really choose being left back over summer school just cause they wanted to go to the beach? lord knows i aint doin that this summer.

italy, u fail to understand that exodus is my need, not the world's. some people have things that are needs to them, like a wheelchair, or glasses. a bike is my need and without it, my mobility is limited.

A need is something you cannot survive without..im pretty sure you can survive without a bike. People (myself included) take for granted what they have living in the states, canada..

If you were living in a 3 world country im positive having a bike wouldnt be on your necessity list.

If I were you I would do summer school, because the friends that were in your class are going to laugh at you, expecially if you just graduating and have to repeat 12th grade again. See a person like doesn't have to worry about summer school ever year. Thanks goddness my years in high school are almost up.
