God of War.....A game inspired by one guy's love of greek mythology. I forgot his name, but he grew up around the knowledge of Gods, like Zeus, Hades, and Aphroditie. The time put into this game was huge, even the main character, Kratos, had many ideas from different art directors. Anyways, Kratos, a leader in the Spartan army, was feared across Greece because of his brutal tactics. His army's ways of fighting were almost impossible to beat. And it had seemed this way too, until an army of Barbarians rained chaos in a battle against Kratos's army. They were about to win, with the leader just about to kill Kratos, until Kratos called for the god of war, Ares. He asked him to destroy his enemy, and his life would be his. So without hesitation, Ares did just that, and gave Kratos the Blades of Chaos, made from the depths of Hades itself. They are burned to his skin, never to be removed. But this gives him the ability to sling the blades around long distances, as its the chains attached to the blades that are burned on. Ares gave him the power to defeat his enemies, but he was to forever serve his master. And slowly, Kratos had become a ruthless killing machine, doing Ares's work on Earth. But one day, he was tricked into killing his own family, and from then on sought out to murder the God of War. The game almost plays like a button masher, but is much more than that. Most enemies have certain weakness, and alot of the monsters are killed in unique ways, like pressing circle to escape from a Hydra's mouth, or moving the analog stick in a jet grind radio fashion to rip the head off of Medusa. The gods help you to prepare for battle against Ares by giving you powers, like Zeus's Fury and Posiedon's Rage. Fighting isn't limited to the ground, as you can hit an enemy in the air, and chain combos from there, as well as grabing. The level designs are great, as they are all from a greek stand point. Imagine being on a boat overrun by the Hyrdras, climbing cliffs with huge cyclopses, or in a cave with Medusas who can turn you into stone. The environments are made to make you feel like you are actually in a greek setting, experiencing a huge world instead of levels that you just can't help but to explore. I actually smiled as I was forced to press a button repeatedly to avoid my attempted killing of a beast to be in vain, or awed at the pure sight of a well done Athens, the god Athena's city. Everything about this game is worth your time, and I seemed to have typed alot, even though I haven't told everything about the game. But I will say that God of War's God Mode, its hardest difficulty, is insanely hard. That's right, its I need another PS2 because I threw it out the window hard.*shrugs* But seriously, this a game that you deserves its place among the rest of your game stack, even with its M rating.

I am a greek mythology fan. I will look into this game. Sounds like alot of fun. Even though, greek mythology constantly reminds me of the most embarraing moments of my life.
