Well I can certainly say that I respect you more than I do for many of the "vets", Virus.

I know I don't deserve any respect WHATSOEVER. I suck in the game, post useless material, and I do nothing for my clan. But there are many others unlike me. They have the qualities of a true vet, as does Virus, but receives little recognition. No offense to SSJKarma, but he posts like madman and is still considered one of the high and mighty of our community.

The way you guys are posting, I'm a vet as well. I joined the game in Sept. 2001. Its not my fault that I didn't know about forums til' much later (more like March 2002). I actually started coming to this one in April 2002, so I've been here longer than most think.

But you cannot compare a vet here at the xmvsf community to a veteran of war. A veteran of war is someone who had fought for his country in a time of need. A veteran here in a GAME is nothing of the sort. It is someone who contributed or did somthing big for this community. It is someone who most people respect.

First off karma judging by how long youve been here only then yes I would be a "vet" I have been here long enough BUT I do not want to be considered a "vet" b/c of what you all have made it stand for.

Some misunderstand me as you clearly have:

1. Im not talking about you in particular I know you post...for god sake how can I miss them...but your fellow comrades from way back the one you guys always bring up...havent done squat for the community in a very long time and yet are still recognized over others (dont know how many time i got to say this).

2. The decision to be called a vet is run by standards that no-one has agreed to...jus look at how many ppl have thier own standards.

This is how it happend back then all the time I almost could'nt wait till a tournament came around jus to see if you guys were as good as some said you were. My thoughts EXACTLY dan.

My opinion: I think anyone that joined in august or september is a vet. They were here first, they got the game off the ground. For that, they deserve our respect.

I also think anyone that is well known, respected, and done something to make the game a little better is also a vet.
example: Myself. I(uh..sorta) run a fan site/forum for this game. I host weekly tournaments. I'm the leader of a well respected clan and came in the top 3 of a few semi-successful tournies. MOST ppl like/respect me, and numerous other things.
I could sit here all day and say everyone I think is a vet or not, but that wouldn't get us anywhere.

To the ppl that are doing this, do you really feel is necessary to come here and say "Oh I don't want to be a vet, vets are dumb,blah blah blah." and most of the ppl that say that are ppl that know they are not vets, and do that so they feel a little better about themselves, or atleast that's what I think.

VIRUS: No matter what you say about not wanting to be one, you know you are. You've done enough, and all more than well known enough to be one.

I think I should mention that just b/c your a VIP member does not, in know way shape or form, make you a vet. I know some of you think cause you give/gave money to the game, that your a vet.

by the way. This topic is about a vet party. Now, once again, you guys have taken another perfectly good topic, changed its topic, and started a debate. I'd be lying if I said I was shocked.

KKS if the top compliment around here is being a "vet" then i do not want to share it with ppl who have not been around suuure they helped get the game going but alot of us have gone through much more than they have here:

Numerous version Changes
Numerous Tweaking to characters
The implement of tag mode
Cyclops
Sentinel
and more

Where were they Oh im sorry once things got bad and major lag came in for a while they jus couldn't handle it....I guess it makes you more of a vet to just kick ass when the game didnt lag then leave than to suffer at times and re-adjust with the progression of the game huh......Plz I have loss to more ##### and kept my composure than most ppl would even admit to but that fine thats jus me I dont care I like this game alot and I am here to stay.

SBYRD5 and VIRUS: You misunderstand the notion of being a veteran. It has always been considered that a veteran has been a part of the game/forum for a long time. It was, long, long ago, determined that a vet had to have been here for a certain amount of the game's life. Search around using the keyword of veteran and I'm certain you'll find it. It is quite old. By the definition of being around for an amount of the time, there are veterans. Read down below for more details before you get mad.

Personally, I never thought it important to show respect to those who have never given me a reason. I only show respect to veterans that have shown that they deserve my respect, such as TarkanX and Nferno666. In this sense, I don't truly care for veterans except for those that I personally know from my experience here.

The idea of being a veteran is a title: nothing more. No more respect is necessary, and no further praise or status is needed. It isn't about anything but being titled as a veteran. Some people might respect veterans more, but that is their choice, not our own.

Let's take into account this dan Im 21 years old, IM ON MY OWN, I have a six year old daughter, and I work over 55 hours a week...I ask you how much more real does it get than that? and um who still finds time?. Guess where im trying to go with this you're smart enough to figure it out.

PPl like Sbyrd and roll by the standards put out should be "vets" because by those standards you could spam for a year and be a "vet" not that i find anything wrong with a little senseless humor sometimes but it seems that some "vets" have their very own standards about who is and who's not.

It really doesn't matter to me like you I only respect those who respect me....but when i disagree with something I going to let it be known like some ppl's view on vets.

I think this whole vet thing really has no point, because all the old timerz are making other New people think that being a "vet" has some kind of importance. Like if a "vet" has some type of power in the game. Ive seen it over and over again from so called "vets". They go in the game and if someone acts stupid the so called "vets" feel like its there own interest to shut this person up because there "vets".

Why be a vet? Why would u like to be respected for nothing? The only respect u get for being a vet is from people that actually come to the forums. Which is a small % of the whole XMvsSF community. What would a new person care if u are a vet? that means nothing to them, because if u just take off all the labels that u guys have made for eachother ur the same person as all the Newcomers.

Why are u guys getting the dictionary and looking up the word "Vetaran"? No one has served time here in war or been here long enough to actually be called "vets". what u guys have done is not what the dictionary states, u guys have made ur own slang word for vet. Having a veteran in here and in real life is not the same thing. This game is way to young to be calling members vets already, I would like to see if any of u "vets" will still be here in 2023 or something.

If someone actually check out those archives (which im sure some of you no-livers do) i'm in archive two, with the queer name of DannysYanks (which i stated before). The rank for this is between 100-150. If you look further you'll find my other names, DanYankees (the original), and DansYankees. I joined the forums in April. Now how I wish I joined the forums back when I started playing the game in October. On the other hand here's SSJKarma who's pmsing for nothin. he joined the forum in one of those early months, but barely played the game. C'mon, if you're gonna join an Xmen vs Streetfighter forum, then actually play the game. AND FOR ALL OF OUR'S SAKE, PROOFREAD YOUR WRITING BEFORE YOU POST IT. YOU TALK AS IF YOU'RE A FIVE YEAR OLD.
