check out this site not sure if it can help though. Als when does it say that you are low on virtual memory? is it at boot up or after running programs?

Ok, for your virtual memory thing...
it may be a lot of things that actually cause it.
like DAN asked, where is it hapenning and in which situation is it happening ?
as for the other things...
well grab yourself a copy F-PROT for dos, once you have it, unzip it and then before running the program set all files of it in READ ONLY mode, that will prevent it from being infected by the virus itself !
to set in READ ONLY mode...
select all files then right-click to make the menu appear, then click on PROPERTIES, then click ont he little READ ONLY checkbox at the bottom of the dialog.
start the dos program and then set it up, it should very easy to use so you won't get yourself any problems. it is supposed to get rid of any virus, but again, it may be forced to delete the infected files.
as for the popups... well ADAWARE is a good popup remover. it doesn't stop them but it cleans your computer frot he junks that may cause it to appears ! for the rest i think there is no real way to stop popups from appearing !
remember, the best way to solve a virus problem is oftenly to format, as it is making sure no virus stays in. but i know how it is. so format when you think you did all the things and it didn't worked !
one last thing...
just in case...
- Right-click MY COMPUTER
- Click the ADVANCED tab
- Click the PARAMETERS button int he PERFORMANCE section
- Click on the ADVANCED tab
now look at the bottom of the dialog !
there you have your virtual memory configuration. do not click modify unless you know what you're doing !
just look if its around 1 times and half your actually real memory !
example: i have 512 of RAM, so defaults of winXP is 768 !
here is a table of it in (REAL / VIRTUAL) situation...
128 / 192
256 / 384
512 / 768
1000 / 1500
if it setted right, then it is a program that takes up everything, it may be caused by the virus, or it may be caused by the popups ! in anycases, these two problems should be solved first.
hope this will help ya !
good luck !
