Connection problems... - A technician needing help !

Hi guys, i know its weird of me asking for help about computers considering i am a technician myself... but it seems that whatever i do i am stuck with new connection !

about 3 days ago i got myself DSL CONNECTION. but ever since i am unable to join / host games ! i could understand that being behind a router's firewall that joining is possible and that hosting isn't... but this is madening... i mean come on, now i can't join nor host !

what's weirder is that i am able to join any chat rooms !
here's what i tryed...

- putting my ip directly...
- changing ports to almost all ports possible !
- Disabling my PC firewall
- Disabling my ROUTER's firewall
- Uninstalling all my internet softwares
- Clearing cache isn't necessary (i use the download version)
- adding SFO to my EXCEPTION int he firewalls so it let pass the ports i play in.

see, i did a lot now... but whatever i do it seems that can't host !
it's really madening me, i am able to play with a fast connection now and i can't even try it !

can anybody help me please maybe i forgot something...

This sounds like a job for TMyApp...dont blame DSL now..i have DSL and i can join and host..so you probably forgot something to do..so ...call out TMyApp ...but before you do..Make you have everything check in Local Area Connection Properties because when i had this checked off i couldn't join any games one time I had "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" checked off

I have DSL aslo and what I can tell you is everytime after a fight or somthing always put your port on auto.

ive had tyhe same prob exept i couldnt join servers that were down anys waysevery tiem i restyart my like completly take out all files its differnet story for me whern i play some times it cant then other times i do it and i can just tellin you if that helps any at all =/

if you can join the chan chans, there is a 100% chance that you can join other people's games.

have you tried checking the "old connection mode" box in the network part of the "options" menu in the game ??

also, what type of DSL modem do you have ?? most DLS modems today have a router built into them... do you use a PPOE dialer to get online ?? or is the internet connection just "on" when you plug your computer into the modem ??

if it's the latter, then definitely the modem has a DHCP enabled on it, thus, is it probably doing routing, thus, you can't host any games unless you figure out a way to forward port 1626 on the modem to the internet ip of your computer ... the other option is to set the modem to "bridged mode", and using a PPOE dialer in windows (which would assign an external ip to your computer)

i agree with the lord and master of streetfighteronline TMYApp just use what he told u or call the company that u got your dsl modem from to see if they could fix your problem. if they cant help u just get comcast internet like i did Note comcast cost the same amount any other dsl services but its way faster and im 100% sure u cant join or host anytime that u want :D

actually... i think there was a problem with the way my modem was connected !
thanks for the info tmyapp... just like you my guest is that the DHCP was routing me to an unknown IP and that messed things up !

i also figured out 2 days ago that my modem was miss plugged with two connections which shouldn't be !
i have passed the last 2 days outside but i have tryed replugging and making it work with an ETHERNET connection instead of the USB one... think this should solve my problem about joining games ! will try the things in a few seconds... thanks for the info guys... and yes tmyapp... ihave played with about all configuration the game offers with a total of a big faillure !

still i'm sure i did something wrong might just be the way i had connected it hope this new way solves it !

It works now, i made my network work so now i have no problems joining games... trying to find how to host games now, thanks for the people who tryed helping me, i appreciate it guys !
