- more expansive variety of games.
- free online gameplay. x-box, u gotta pay.
- smaller in size, not bulky like x-box, but doesnt uses puny disc u can lose in a corner, unlike gamecube.

gamecube is slighty smaller than x-box and stupid. x-box is big and costly. ps2 can be stored in narrow spaces and works hard reading a damaged disc. and as long as u got a good ISP, going online with ps2 is pretty simple, just go online if yougot the network adaptor. x-box is a whole different story....

Definitely PS2 because - smaller controls , less buttons and the huge variety of games can be played but too bad the graphics arent as good as the Xbox , one game to compare with is NFSU2. You can easily tell that the Xbox version is much better. Also for the Xbox if only the controls were smaller and less buttons.

The problme with Nintendo has always been that it doesn't have strong third party support as it relies on its first party titles, which of mostly all are kiddy. The PS2 offers a wide variety of games, wheras the Gamecube mostly dlivers games for a younger audience.

Thanks alamgir... AnimeGirl4evr... when it comes to childish games, Nintendo is the number 1 culprit. Most of their "code of conduct" for creating games goes like 75% to the little "growing" children.

Just as you put blindly, SONY has been making games long before the XBox came out. As far as I'm concerned, they're deeply rooted in the gaming industry well enough to provide games that a larger variety ofusers would love to play than any other gaming system.

Anyway, I would agree on the point of the XBox being a bit better when it comes to graphics and the Xbox's system capabilities. Heck, I know of the X-Factor that acts like a HD for storing games... but if I actually wanted something like that, I'd just turn my 2.80 512 P4 into a gaming machine. Update the video drivers, and double or perhaps quadruple the system memory and I'll have what the XBox thinks it's giving me... save a few Torrent files here and there.

With the Playstation 2, you get what you need and desire. Sure it's not the perfect system and even though some of their games suck, the ONLY game that the Xbox has that stands out is Halo... After that, everything just goes along with the wind.

You only hear about the system... you hear nothing of its games.

I wouldn't call what XBox did by bringing online gaming a revolutionary move, since their system now sucks compared to what the playstation 2 would give you. It's kinda like comparing Bram's Client to the one that lets you have control ofur upload speed. I mean, the playstation 2 gives this to you for free .. and you have to pay for that with the Xbox... now in my opinion, the PS2 revolutionalized "online console gaming" ... if the microsoft allowed the SONY to come up with online gaming before them then they should have been ashamed; since they produce computer related products... that basically... work online o_O (... if you get my drift)

Anyway, one man's meat is another man's poison... but I just don't see how you'll go wrong with a perfectly working PS2 when put in side by side with the Xbox.

The PS1 actually came out after the N64 didn't it? And it pretty much dominated at its time.

Anyway kidbuu resi 4 is a very good game and due to emails from PS2 fans such as myself capcom have decided not to make it exclusive to Gamecube and will release it on PS2 this year. Plus if you wanna talk about exclusive games, there are loads of good games the PS2 has that the Gamecube doesn't, such as tekken, devil may cry, metal gear solid (2 and 3), final fantasy, gta, burnout, and others.

I'm talking about burnout 3, the best one of the 3 and probably the best racing game i've ever played. And by MGS I wsas reffering to the actual series of MGS, not just a remake of metal gear solid 1. The PS2 continues the series whereas the gamecube only has a remake. I meant the same for final fantasy, the gamecube doesn't continue the series.

I believe the Playstation 2 is better for all the reasons that others have told, but I have a question....I've had my PS2 for quite some time now, but I haven't used the online ability just because I haven't bought what I needed yet. Does it cost to setup your PS2 for the internet but not playing games online with others, or besides paying for the equipment you need not costing anything at all?

Yeah, the Xbox needs more games too, I was just talking about the gamecube cos we were discussing it.

HAdokeman, you don't need to pay any extra costs for online gaming. You just pay for a network adaptor, and pay the monthly fee you usually do for your internet.

That's actually one point I agree on with you. I tried it out when I got Halo for the PC, and it was okay (since Halo is basically the marquee Xbox game) ...

However, integrating it with a UBS chord and its port, I was able to try it out for Madden 2005... and (in my opinion anyway) it utterly sucked :biggrin:

It's not all that bad though, however, it could be better.

the s-controller pad makes it easier to play nearly all xbox games,its a lot smaller and comfortable then the original xbox pad, roughly the same size as a ps2 joy pad, you'd be better of buying one of those instead of the normal pads if you find it difficult to play with the default controller

Hard-drive storage? Did you think about that when you purchased the x-box? Or did you think about the games itself?

look at how small and easy to handle the controller is and the system being able to be stored in a tight space horizontally or vertically, and it cant take up too much room.

I wouldn't give the Gamecube the cold hand, its still a pretty damn good system. I think the controller is great excluding the position of the D-Pad. Anyway, most of you guys probably don't like it because it has "kiddy" games and has no online play. Well, I still have fun playing Mario and Smash Bros. And I seldomly go online on PS2 to listen to self-righteous geeks proclaim how good they are at playing a game 24/7.

But since I own a PS2 and am most familiar with it, that would be my choice.

The PlayStation 3's CPU will be a chip codenamed "Cell", and the system will use chip-to-chip interface technology and memory technology from Rambus.

Cell is a dual-core, 64-bit RISC IBM POWER derivative. Early versions of the chip will be 90-nm, with a change to a 65-nm process, if cost and performance allow. Abstracts from presentations to be presented at ISSCC show the Cell processor running at 4.6 GHz.

In December 2004, Nvidia announced that they have been in a multi-year agreement with SCEI to develop the PlayStation 3's GPU, a custom variant of their next-generation graphics processor.

Playstation 3 will utilize the 512 megabit version (64 Megabyte per RAM chip) of XDR DRAM, with Rambus' interface technology. Up to four can be used per Cell chip, for a maximum RAM figure of 256 Megabytes per Cell Chip.

xbox is the better system by far and the stats prove it....microsoft has come up quite a bit against sony and the live is making it so much better than anything sony has dished out thus far...its not always about an extensive library when you can have repeat gameplay from one bad ass game...

Oh ok, so you'd rather buy say 5 games and play them until Xbox 2? Well no matter how good the specs of a system i'd never buy a console and do that. An extensive games library is always what counts in my opinion. PS3 vs Xbox2 looks promising though thats for sure.
not what i said,... but...i only have about 5 games that i play over any other game repetitiously.....but not just me...a whole community of gamers dedicate themselves to one game or two until they are the best...and when you have a mil other people trying to be better than you, you better believe i will play it to prove them otherwise...if ps2 and xbox keeps spitting out useless games just to make their library extensive what good is it that once you beat them there is no cause for repeat play..which is why the live feature is so great as its never the same twice...you could have a million games all so so, and 1 good game that makes you want to go to sleep late and wake up early to play it that will blow them all away..statistics all over the world are showing more people playing a game such as halo 2 than any game brought out by ps2....so yes...i would much rather play 1 game that is so challenging enough than to play a bunch of bs games that will only entertain until it says "game over you saved the world"...

Statistics? What statistics. And i'm not talking about adding crap games to a consoles games list, i'm talking about adding good games. But anyway at the end of the day I think all this arguing won't change anyone's opinions, and to be honest choosing the better console will always be opinion when the specs of both consoles are pretty similar.It all depends on the type games you play and if your happy to stick with it for a while. I personally like change so i'll play a game for some time and buy another one.

so what your saying is you'd rather shell out 2-300 dollars for a system to play only five games?

All I know is that the DS seems better than the PSP unless Sony fixes all the defects and bugs in it. Look what I found in another forum.
