some ppl i play against i have non-lag matches. some ppl there is alittle lag and some ppl there is just too much lag :angryfire: there are different times of lag. when uare fighting the game may lag when u move or do a move . The lag i hate is i do tons of specials on my opponent and the opponent still wont die.its like 6health bars vs. 2 in a1on1tag.
This must be fixed. i hate gettin screwed outta a match i should have won.

Machine lag cannot be fixed. There is always gonna be lag. I dont know what your talking about when you say a non-lag game. There is always lag no matter what. I think the only way to get rid of lag is for everyone get high speed connection..i mean everyone...and have a high speed server. This will never happen.

Finally someone agrees with me!!! Well lag is always gonna be around and there is nothing that any of use can do about it. I think that if there are only a few ppl in the chatroom at a time there would be less lag but there still would be lag.

EXPLANATION OF THE LAG (2nd time i say that)

internet is made of multiple network !
ottawa, hong kong, alabama and all the country's are connected to that network by the SERVERS. when you type in an URL, that same URL is translate into an IP address, then this address is sent into the network to find what your looking for, THE WEB SITE. **then it is bringed back to you by the best path the packet (data sended over internet) can have...**

what i have put between the ** ** is what cause the lag !
example of a packet travelling from new york to new jersey (see how close those town are, only a river separate them both) the packet goes from new york to quebec to ottawa to hong kong to africa to groenland to some other country then gets back to the texas to finally comes to new jersey !

what caused the long path ? you ask...
simple answer, the packet has try to find a path that isn't blocked by other packet and since he has some TTL (Time To Live) he must find the fastest way around, but the thing is, the fastest way isn't necessarely the better one ! in most of the case the packet get in a loop (like this, ottawa to hong kong back to ottawa and get again to hong kong, you see the picture) and since his time ran out he just self destruct. then the computer in new jersey send a new message back to new york and say:"hey i never receive packet number 14 out 16, can you send it back ?" then the computer send the missing packet and the whole thing goes on again !

so in the nutshell, your modem does only one thing, that is not what count the most in that kind of game ! here is the explanation of the modem... the game sends about 3kb packet so even a 33,6 phone modem can send it in less than 1 second. now i know for sure that tmyapp tested the game on a 28,8 modem and he said it worked right too ! so the data is really less again so the fact that you have cable and or phone modem isn't what count in here since both send at the same rate ! (for cable modem to make a difference the packet must be 4096 or larger, thats about 4kb)

other things that come into play is those who are on phone lines, not modem but the phone line itself. if it is old then it put some interferences in the lines so the user lose speed and same goes to cable modem user except that they have more recent lines so they have less interferences ! that explain why some user have 56k modem but they don't connect to more than 33,6... my case exactly !

i know this is long, but to understand lag you must understand INTERNET and your MODEMs !

The lag i hate is i do tons of specials on my opponent and the opponent still wont die.

Ive said this before...."Dont do this!"

Standing in one spot doing the same move over and over again creates lag on your end of the game.
Although you may see your opponent getting hammered by your 1000 specials/supers...your actualy shooting into nothing.
"Usualy" what happens is your opponent gets hit with 1 or 2 of your attacks...Then blocks and avoids the rest,by jumping over you. Eventualy YOU will screw up the rythem of your attacks. This is when the 2 opponents sync. Thats when your opponent "lag teleports" behind you (he's actualy been behind you for some time doing the same thing you are, "spamming the keyboard" with attacks)

Oh yeah what SSJKarma said is true too. :D

Your best bet is to learn to interprit your opponts fighting style, with the character they chose to play (the most common is the,"back attack" tactics. Commonly found with Ryu, and Chun-li users) And fight accordingly. Anticipate that your opponet will jump behind you at some point and beat you in the back of the head.
Listen for the "super jump" sound. As soon as you here it. Rush,or back away from the location you are attacking from immeaditly. If you are slamming the keybaord with hadokens, optic blasts, low kicks, low punchs,etc.etc.etc. you may not hear this sound.
Learn to use the "true combos" of the game, and not the lag "lag combos". Lag combos usualy do not hit your opponent (unless they realy suck at blocking),where as the "true combos" are unblockable because you opponent is still "stunned". After preforming a "true 2-3 move combo". Interprit your opponets next move.(Ryu users uasualy use a fire ball,Chun-li will "triple jump" to you,Cyclops will "optic blast",Wolverine will rush you,Sentinel will projectile attack...depends on the player) Either back away, move in,or use your own move that has priority over what you think your opponent will do.

Lastly DONT HAMMER THE KEYBOARD! trying to shoot 3 fireballs ,optic blasts, sweeping kicks, etc etc etc, BEFORE the first animation has ended,is useless. Wait until the first animation is half way complete,THEN type your next command and USE DIVERSITY!

Doing the same move over and over again, can be easily avoided,or broken with a move of higher priority. (except for the occasional "cornering tactic")

Oh yeah...keeps your self in the center of the ring at all times when possible. The corner is NOT your friend.
