You're no "n00b"... all you did was put the topic in the wrong section.
As far as you not being able to connect with your mates, try and run through a few checks. Is there any one of you connecting through the internet from behind a router ??
If so, then some changes to the default settings would have to be made. You should go to the network tab in the Options portion, and click on "I am behind a firewall or Proxy" option and the old connection mode.
Note that this would make you unable to host or challenge others to a game. So you'll have to join games or accept challenges. If ALL your mates are behind routers, then there's nothing we can do. Someone would just have to unhook his/her router so that the others can join

Don't say your a "n00b". It will make people call you a "n00b".
Now,to your question. It might be that your not setting the options right. Set some options diffrent. Go into options and set slow connection on. Doesen't work? Well then, you might be behind a router. Or maybe one of your buddies is behind a router. In that case you should unplug your (or their)router. That should fix it. If you don't want to you can set options to fix that. Go into options and set "I am behind a firewall or a proxy" on. That should help,if it doesen't make sure that all you guys did it. That might help. If worse comes to worse, you'll have to pull out your router so the other ones can join in and fight.

Okay.. hmm...
I don't really think you have that power to make OTHERS call users ####s. And if you can, well, why would you want to do something like that to a new user ?? You're suppose to make them feel welcome, not make them feel as if people can do anything here.
Anyways, did you real blank09's post ??
