Well like your sister said you have a firewall. And if she was right in telling you that you can't disable it and only your company can then all you can do is accept challenges and join people's games.
And a router doens't mean you can't host. A router allows more than one device to connect to the internet at the same time so that you can use the internet at full speed rather than splitting the connection speed between the devices. But like you said it has the same effect as a firewall and you can only accept challenges and join games.

You can go to your router's settings and set it to DMZ mode. You may be able to host that way but it will render your computer vulnerable to internet hacks and viruses.

When it comes to the firewall, you must take the security of you computer into consideration. If you rather play it safe and not put your computer at risk, then just play the game without the ability to host/challenge.
If you rather enjoy ALL the game has to offer (hosting and challenging) risking unwanted intrusions, self-installing viruses and spyware, then play without your firewall on.

You can allow it to let you host in SFO. But with routers, theres no chance.

I have a firewall, i could never host before but this is what i had 2 do.
First, i clicked on the top button which says i have a firewall and will also highlight the bottom button which says ( old connection ). Or u can just click on the bottom one... Also u can change ur IP adress to AUTO in caps, if youhost and u are getting a (0) next to ur name...

Second, if youhave a problem and u can't block in 1on1's because of lag... then experiment around with differnt pings and see if youcan. ( I usually use 60 now )

Hope this helps u....

go to the street fighter online faq and look up your problem there, i'm sure you'll find your answer there instead of having unsure replies...
here (http://www.streetfighteronline.com/faq/) you can find out all you need to know about the game, and it'll help to find and solve your problem
i've also taken liberty to find the router section for you in advance so check it out here (http://www.streetfighteronline.com/faq/internet/index.html)
enjoy

Firewalls do NOT stop people from hosting... only Routers. And once you have one, just forget about hosting... unless you bypass it and connect directly to the internet.
