View Full Version : TMY, can you, or anyone else answer - this totally unrelated to xmvssf q?
Ok, I know, again, unrelated to xmvssf, but I figure this is as good a place as any to ask (and people respond here too!):
Does anyone happen to know where I can get the linux source code from? Any site that goes thru how linux implement security would also be pretty good.
This is on the amazingly off-chance that someone reads up on linux source-code in their spare time. (Or has an ass due in a few days on linux...!)
Again, sorry for disturbing this fine forum with some blatantly unforum-ish stuff!

it is suppose to come with the linux you bought or downloaded !
example: red hat linux 7.2 (4 CD)
cd 1 & 2= red hat
cd 3 = source code
cd 4 = instruction manuel
so if you bought the linux then the source code is suppose to be there !

this probably makes me sound like an idiot but... whats a linux?<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>xsilver shakes his head and starts crying</span>
Linux? Its an OS (operating system) - just like Windows, really! Well, not like, but the same idea. ie, turn on your computer, and its there. Its free, and really doesn't crash.
It does all the stuff windows does (runs programs, plays music etc) without actually being windows. It comes, like windows, in a variety of flavours.
It is also made by techs. That means that
a) readable documentation is hard to find
b) if you do have a problem, there's no nice service place for help.
c) if you can't configure your computer properly, you are fu.cked.
That's about it, really! I could go on... but I won't.
PS never ever ask that q to a real hardcore programming guru. While they mightn't be capable of exerting enough newtons to actually cause your sensory indicators to fire, the spittle from their mouths while they lecture you (having just consumed some garlic pizza) is deadly.
