There are 2 highly unpleasant fight methods (so far) that many people would call 'not fighting fair'.

Wolverine's corner-trap, and Chun-Li's against-the-side-hundred-kicking-so-you-dont-move-back trick.

A simple prevenatative would be to eliminate the edges, by making arena like a circular ring. Y'know, so the viewpoint is like a rotating camera in the middle, & if the fighters go in the same direction for long enough, they'll get back where they started.
Confused? Here's an ASCII pic.

Irrelevant: great idea if it can work (either TMyApp can do it, or it cant be done )

to my knowledge, that hundred kick doesnt work past a certain point--i used to try it just to freak people out, but when i asked "like the hundred kick combo", they claimed that it never happened

i believe it causes so much lag that it doesnt register.

but i really do like your idea, except anyone who's played SF II for snes knows, the corners are great. no one can get on that side of you, but you have to make sure the enemy doesnt get close. it would make the game play radically different. Maybe there is another solution....any suggestions?

great idea but i doubt it will be in.

got trouble in the corner ?

block are there for that and super jump too.
i never really stay in the corner but i do have that much lag that i cannot even dodge 2 hadoken in a row.

but for the cheap n00bs who always trap you in a corner and do down, LP over and over again, they wouldn't be able to do that

thats really neat.
i'm always getting traped in the corner so this might a good solution to the "unfair fighting"

Just imagine how many Hadokens I could get on the screen with that kind of mode...The'd all keep going until they hit something...
And Shinkuu Hadonkens would be...unblockable

thats another thing. The fireballs should disinegrate before they make a complete revolution around the arena as well as the shinkuu hadonken. that would the game perfectly fair

why can we just leave the game simple as it is...tmyapp has a billion things to do

montalvo

he doesnt have to do it now:biggrin:
just kidding
but its an idea that just might work so i hope tmyapp looks at this .

Actually, I was thinking that the gameplay would be identical apart from the lack of corners.
The whole point of the 'ring' idea was to prevent needing an infinitely long background.
So, your Hadokens would disappear off the side of the screen permenantly.
Anyway, Hadokens go in a straight line, & a circle is (by defininition) curved. The hadoken would fly off the 'track' before it got very far round.

It can do unlimited damage if you do the slowest fireball just before you start kicking. Dunno why.

Lol...I was just kiddin bout the hadokens...
But a round track would just give way to more cheap tactics (my least favorite being run away and fire hadokens...). If we get a circular track, it's going to make it even harder for wolverine users to "catch up" to Ryu and his infinite hadokens...I think we should just leave it the way it is.

I know a solution to that too:

Let wolverine smash fireballs!
Drill calw would probably be best for this, but BB would do just as well.
Maybe even Weapon X, when it arrives. (What is Weapon X like in the arcades, anyway? This might be ridiculous, for all I know...)

the fighters are in simple line so curved stage wouldn't work it would have to be in 3d, for wrap thing then think of it this way !

ryu is doing a shinkuu hadouken but it wraps around so ryu get it by his own super (joke) ;D

viper2040: anyfin' CAN be done

Necro2k2: tiz' alright... as long as they are NOT bitching, people can post as many ideas as they want (some of them ARE good and will be implemented)

Irrelevant: i know exactly what u'r talking about... (we had a similar thread in regards to this a while back)... but, the only stage i have EVER seen that had "no corners" ... was Shumagorath's stage in MSH ...

anyway... there are 2 problems with this idea:

1: i really can ONLY do Shuma's stage (since it was ment to be a "loop") ... any other stage i try to "convert" will just look retarded

2: it is hard enough to win with Logan/Li as it is... removing the corner will just make them even more useless (something that i'm trying to avoid)... we really need a "Ryu killer" .. and so far, those two aren't having much luck :(

all in all... it is not such a bad idea (@least not if we only have ONE "loop" stage)

... all i need now is TIME to get it done (maybe later this summer)

If you want to get around Ryu's fireballs, you can slide underneath them (down+forward+fierce punch). I learned that one from Nosoul4evr.

Btw, Weapon X is awesome. It actually will go right through a fireball, or any other projectile for that matter, in the arcades. In fact, the only way to avoid it is to block, 'cause it has priority over any other move to my knowledge (except maybe the dragon punch...?).

It's a Tekken thing. (*Please* don't flame me for being a traitor...)

Maybe Li could have a fireball cancelling attack. (Thinks 'D, F, 2Ks'.) I already mentioned some possibilities for Wolve.

Thanks. There would probably need to be an option somewhere about whether to use stage-wrap.
